April 2024

The Summer Term is here!
Welcome to edition eight of our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) newsletter. How can it be the summer term already? Fingers crossed this sees the start of sunnier weather. As we gave the children a couple of weeks break from school, it seems only right to sign post you to some courses that are running over the next few weeks as they begin learning again! This way you and your children can both learn across the summer term. This issue will focus on free courses and training that are running in Lambeth over the coming weeks. In the summer term we will have three coffee mornings, the final one of these will be a transition meeting where we will focus on preparing the children for their new teachers next year and/or leaving the Federation for secondary school. Lots of preparations for transition are already underway but, please let me or your school's Assistant head know if you have any questions. It is really important that everyone feels part of our school communities so please do fill in our survey so that I can shape these sessions to support as many of you as possible.
Best wishes
Kathryn Congdon
Speech and language therapy training
As a federation we commission Evelina children's therapy to deliver our speech and language therapy service. This means that you, all our parents who live in Lambeth and Southwark are entitled to attend the training they offer for free. There are allocated admin for course booking and so if a course has already run and you like the look of it please email them and let them know so they can let you know when the course runs again. Click the picture to check out the courses available.

What should I do if I think my child has a special educational need?
The first point of contact should always be your child's class teacher, please always discuss your concerns with them before contacting a member of the inclusion team. The teachers and support staff who work with your children really value the relationships they have with their classes and are in the strongest position to speak to you about how your child is getting on at school.
