Welcome Back Letter to Families
Week of August 27 - 30, 2024
Every Student, Every Day!
Dear Morse Families,
I hope your summer was filled with joy, relaxation, and maybe even a little adventure! As we prepare to kick off another fantastic school year, I want to extend a heartfelt welcome back to each of you.
As I enter my fourth year as principal of Morse Elementary, I am filled with gratitude for the relationships we've built and the positive partnerships we've fostered. This year promises to be nothing short of wonderful, and I am excited to embark on this journey with you.
Our theme for the year, both district-wide and here at Morse, is "Every Student, Every Day." This guiding principle reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring that each and every student receives the support, encouragement, and education they need to thrive.
We are thrilled to welcome preschool and the Preschool Intervention Program (PIP) to the Morse family! While construction on the new preschool building is still underway, we anticipate its completion by October. In the meantime, our Preschool SDC and PIP classes will begin at the start of the school year and we couldn’t be more excited to have these young learners join us.
Our Morse mission remains unwavering: we are here, day in and day out, for the betterment of our students. This is a collective effort that we could not achieve without the unwavering support of our amazing families. Together, we model a strong community, perseverance, and the power of kindness, paving the way for our students to thrive and flourish.
As we approach the start of the new school year, I encourage you to take some time to review our Student/Parent Handbook for 2024-2025 and the Morse Activities Calendar. We look forward to offering more opportunities for families and the community to be actively involved on campus throughout the year.
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to review the attached letter that was emailed to families on August 13. It contains important information about TK/K orientation, first day of school details, supply lists, the parent-student handbook, and back-to-school night arrangements.
Here’s to a year filled with growth, learning, and joy for every student, every day!
With gratitude and appreciation,
Mrs. Kelly Farrell
Principal
Morse Elementary School
Every Wednesday is early release. Students are dismissed at 1:15 PM.
Back to School Information
Class Lists and Room Assignments: Families will receive an email at or after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, 8/26/2024. To ensure you receive this information, please make sure to complete the Online Data Confirmation process.
School Office Hours: 7:15 a.m. - 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our bell schedule can be found here or on our website.
Closed Campus: The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. To ensure a secure environment for all, Morse will remain a closed campus before, during, and after school. However, we understand the importance of a smooth transition, especially for our youngest students. On the first day of school, August 27, we invite parents to walk their child to class. This will give you a chance to see where your child’s classroom is located and help them feel comfortable with the path they’ll take each day. Starting Wednesday, August 28, we kindly ask that parents say their goodbyes at the car, the valet drop-off, or the gate. Rest assured, our caring staff will be there to assist your child to class if needed, ensuring they feel safe and supported every step of the way.
Parking Lot and Neighborhood Safety: The safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. We ask all families to follow safety rules when driving in our parking lot and to prioritize safety and courtesy. This will help ensure our parking lot runs smoothly each day and remains a safe place for everyone.
Arrival and Dismissal: Students will walk through gates to their classroom line-up spots where supervision is provided. Gates will open at 7:30 a.m., so we ask that students do not arrive before 7:30, as there is no supervision before that time. Gates will close at 7:50a.m. everyday. Tardy students will enter campus through the front office.
Dismissal Procedures:
- TK and Kindergarten: All TK and Kindergarten students must be picked up at the TK/Kindergarten playground gate by an adult.
- 1st - 6th Grade: Students in grades 1-6 can be picked up either in the valet or in front of the school.
- Walkers: Parents of walkers can wait at the crosswalk or in front of the school.
- Valet Pickup: Students using valet will be escorted to a safe line-up spot and will wait to be called based on their valet pick-up number. Cars will be loaded three (3) at a time. To speed up this process, please create a sign with your student’s name and grade and place it on the passenger side of your dashboard. You may include multiple children on one sign. An optional template is available.
- Bus Zone: Do not park, stop, or unload in the bus zone on Morse Avenue.
- No U-Turns: U-turns are not permitted along Morse Avenue.
- No LEFT turns: Left turns are not permitted when exiting campus during arrival and dismissal.
Breakfast and Lunch
Once again this year, breakfast and lunch will be available to all students at no charge. Students are also welcome to bring their own lunch. Teachers will take a lunch count each morning.
