Cornerstone Impact Letters
Our goal is to establish relationships with families so that students and parents are prepared for the journey ahead. Parenting can be very challenging - we know. Our hope is that Cornerstone can help you navigate the schools - and life, and find community resources to make it a little easier.
Over the past six months we have been amazed to see the strength parents have - especially during difficult times. We have asked a few friends to tell us about their journey and the ways people in the Chehalis community show up to provide assistance, support, and encouragement. This month we feature a Cornerstone Impact Letter from the Hazelrigg family:
This letter, and several others, have made our work quite rewarding. We are so grateful for the feedback. If you have been helped by the Cornerstone Program and would like to share your story, send us your thoughts. They might just end up in our monthly update!
Setting Limits Without Waging War - Jan 25 and Feb 8
The next class in our parent education series is called, "Setting Limits Without Waging War." We have scheduled Glenn Spinnie as our instructor once again. He will be in the multi-purpose room at Cornerstone on January 25 and February 8. Give us a call to reserve your space at this training!
Love and Logic tells us, "The happiest and most secure kids have something in common—they have adults in their lives who provide and enforce loving limits. Kids tend to test the very limits they want the most because limits mean love, and limits mean feelings of safety. Unfortunately, many parents set limits that are unenforceable."
Glenn will help Chehalis parents learn more about setting limits with your children in this class. Bring your family for dinner, and we'll provide the childcare during the one hour class. Just let us know you're coming. Call or text 360-219-7267 or 360-219-3657.
Parenting In The Technology Age
One of the greatest challenges in parenting can be setting limits with technology, or screen time. Our friends at Love and Logic provide great resources online, including this post about how to set limits with technology. Learn how to set enforceable limits, and read more about how addictive technology can be.
There is hope! Use the button below to visit the Love and Logic website and read the article, "Parenting In The Technology Age: Setting Limits."
