JPC WEEKLY NEWS 10-16-24
POINTS FROM THE PRINCIPAL
- Digital Citizenship
- A huge shout-out to our amazing technology coaches for providing resources and lessons for our classrooms. It is imperative that our students understand that using technology (and the internet) requires responsibility. Through age-appropriate lessons, discussions, and activities, our students will learn about online safety.
- School Photos
- Scheduled for October 28th
- Paperwork was backpacked home
- As a school, we provide the space for the class and individual photographs. Please address all questions about ordering to BNL directly. Their contact information is on the paperwork.
- Planning Ahead:
- Wear Red Day: October 29th
- Handbook: Be sure to review the handbook as it contains all information that you will need for the school year. Important information such as the arrival and dismissal procedures are included (in addition to have been emailed to you on August 26th). The link is at the bottom of the page.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Dear JPC Families,
This past Friday, we introduced our VIP lunch program to our students and teachers. Classroom teachers will be asked to select two students each month who consistently show kindness, respect and follow school rules.
When students are nominated, they receive a letter to bring home to their families and an invitation to the special lunch with the date of when the VIP lunch will take place. At the end of the lunch, students will be awarded their certificates to bring home and will have their picture taken. If photo consent has been given, the photo will be shared in our weekly newsletter the following week. All photos for the month will be shared on our bulletin board outside of the office.
All students have the opportunity to be selected for this special recognition each month by making good choices in the classroom, cafeteria and out at recess.
We are very excited to begin our VIP lunches in October!

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS
- I observed....
- students practicing proper letter formations
- students looking at photos and using clues to reinforce learned words such as strange, diversity, community, fuss, and discover.
- students brainstorming times they were happy (and mad!) and making a sketch in preparation for an upcoming writing piece
- students practicing oral fluency, blending, segmenting using multisensory strategies
- Mr. Smith, Physical Education: The students enhanced their balancing and coordination skills through an engaging ice cream relay race. They practiced controlling a ball on an upside-down cone while navigating a course that became progressively more challenging with each round. New obstacles included additional cones to zigzag around, using a larger, heavier cone to balance the ball, and a cone smaller than the ball, which added an extra layer of difficulty. The kids had a fantastic time and eagerly shared their favorite ice cream flavors with me!

PTO PLACE
A note from the PTO – thank you to all who have generously provided funds! However, only 24% of families have contributed. The PTO funds many programs for the students and teachers that are both fun and educational. Without additional contributions we will have no choice but to scale back. Please consider donating today – no amount is too big or too small!
Here are a few examples on what the PTO provides to students throughout the year:
- Bubble Man Assembly
- Art in the Classroom
- Multi Cultural Night
- Scholastic Magazine
- Movie Night
- Graduation T-Shirts
- Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
We are in need of volunteers. This is a great way to get involved with the community and our kindergarteners! Please reach out or sign up below! We are specifically looking for help with our Glow Run (this will be JPC’s first year participating!) as well as Multi Cultural Night. We need your help!
