A Message from Dr. Holt
Dear RFISD Community,
As February comes to a close, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of our students and share a few important updates as we look ahead to the coming months.
First, I want to congratulate our students on a long list of impressive achievements. As you saw in the campus recaps above, both our boys’ and girls’ basketball teams earned the titles of Bi-District Champions, a testament to their hard work and dedication. Additionally, we are extremely proud to have several swimmers who advanced to the state meet, as well as a number of powerlifters who have advanced on to regionals. Both our boys' and girls' bowling teams are also moving on to regionals, which we are thrilled about. We also had eleven students who represented us at the State FBLA Competition this month. And, those are just a few of the MANY accomplishments happening around the district. These achievements highlight not only the talent of our students but also the support of our coaches, teachers, families, and school community. Congratulations to all, and best of luck to those continuing to compete at the next level!
Looking ahead, I am excited to announce that this May, we will hold a district-wide service day—an opportunity for our students and staff to come together and give back to our community. More details will be shared soon, but I encourage everyone to start thinking about how they can participate in making a difference.
I also want to mention SORA, our district’s digital reading platform that provides students with free access to a wide range of e-books and audiobooks. This is a fantastic resource that encourages reading both in and out of the classroom. Parents can also explore SORA with their children to find books that match their interests and reading levels. If you haven’t yet checked it out, I encourage you to do so! You can find the PDF user guide attached down below. Parents, if you would like to access SORA, you can login using your student's login credentials.
Additionally, I want to remind families that transfer applications for the 2025-2026 school year opened on February 12th. Transfer applications are only required for students who do NOT reside on Randolph Air Force Base. Students who live on Randolph AFB do not need to complete a transfer application, as they automatically qualify for enrollment in RFISD. If your family resides off-base and you would like your children to attend RFISD for the 2025-2026 school year, please be sure to complete the transfer application as soon as possible. You can access it via our website or by clicking the link underneath the flyer shared below in the "Randolph Review" portion of the newsletter. Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will open on March 3rd for new students entering Pre-K and Kindergarten and on April 7th for new students entering 1st through 12th grades. Again, the registration piece is for new students who live on-base or for those who already have approved transfer applications on file for the 2025-2026 school year. Please see the "New Student Registration" flyer shared later in the newsletter in the "Randolph Review" section for more information on registration steps.
Finally, on Monday, March 3rd, you will receive a ParentSquare notification regarding a required parent permission form in order to allow continued student access to Google services. We use Google Workspace for Education, and we are seeking your permission to continue to provide and manage a Google Workspace for Education account for your child.
Although all RFISD students currently have this account access, recent changes to the Google Services Acceptable Use Agreement are now requiring that parents give consent in order for their child to continue having access to any Google Services, including Chromebooks.
We are asking that you complete that permission form via ParentSquare no later than Friday, March 7th, 2025. Please note that if you select "no" on the permission form, RFISD will no longer be able to provide technology devices/technology access of any kind to your student. Again, this form is necessary for students to continue using a number of tools and educational resources within the Google suite. Please be on the lookout for this message on March 3rd and complete the required form no later than March 7th to avoid any disruptions in your child’s learning.
Thank you for your continued support of Randolph Field ISD. As always, I am grateful for the partnership between our schools and families that continues to make our district such a great place to learn and grow.
Warmest Regards,
Brian Holt, EdD
Superintendent
Randolph Field ISD
