Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Subject Highlights:
Each week will focus on a department within the school and share their nominations with you. This week our Art and Photography team will be sharing their nominations with you.
Miss Jakubiak has made the following nominations this week:
Year 7 students Aurea D, Leah-Rose, Anotidaishe and all of Year 7 as I have been really impressed with their progress since September. The engagement in art and the resilience of the students has been amazing!
Year 8 students Oliwia D, Eleanor H, Anthony I and Adam, students have been nominated for excellent effort in art and great improvements!
Year 9 students Amber B, Peter, Levente and Pamela have been nominated for amazing improvement and engagement. Miss Jakubiak has been really impressed with their shading techniques throughout the Green man project.
Huge well done to all of 10C art for some amazing improvements since September and cracking on with their artist study pieces!
Miss Jakubiak would like to say well done to all students attending Art club every Tuesday in A101, these students produced some amazing work!
Finally, well done to all photography students for their amazing work and continuous dedication to keep improving their photographic skills!
Mrs Clark would like to say well done to the A Level Art students for their performance during their exam, we are really proud of the outcomes.
Art Work
Please find below a selection of the excellent work completed by Year 7 students in their Pop Art topic, Year 8 work influenced by Futurism and WW1, Year 9 work on the Green Man Project, Year 10 Artist Study pieces, Art Club and the Photography class, Miss Jakubiak is very proud of you all.
Curriculum Focus:
Each week we will share with you what our students are learning in our focus departments this term, below you will find the topics for KS4 and KS5 Geography.
Year 10:
This term, Year 10 students begin their Coast Topic, preparing for their compulsory fieldwork in Hunstanton next term. Further details will be provided soon. Students are now more than halfway through their course content and are significantly developing their understanding. They will also take a comprehensive mock exam in Term 6, providing an excellent opportunity to demonstrate their progress.
Year 11:
Final exams start this week, beginning with Paper 1 – Physical Geography on Friday. We wish them the best of luck, though we are confident they will do well due to their hard work. Good luck, Year 11!
Year 12 and 13:
Travel & Tourism - Students will undertake Unit 1: Introduction to Travel & Tourism. We are extremely proud of their achievements.
Year 13:
Final exams commence this week, starting with Paper 2 – Physical Geography on Thursday. Students have reported feeling confident, a testament to their incredible hard work. We are extremely proud of their achievements.
Drop In Social Morning:
We have supported Mental Health Awareness Week by hosting a Social Morning Drop-In in the Library. We encouraged students to visit and discuss how they were feeling, complete a Check-In Bingo sheet and help themselves to a healthy snack while they were talking. The students were amazing during this time, checking in with each other and discussing ways in which they can look after their mental health and help others to as well.

Monday 20th May - Year 8 Drayton Manor Trip - if your child is attending please ensure they arrive in school by 8.30am at the latest.
Tuesday 21st May - KS5 Music Technology Trip - Belgrade Theatre.
Tuesday 21st May - Year 10 Now and Next Evening 5.00pm - 6.30pm.
Thursday 23rd May - Year 10/12 - Grease the Musical Trip - Belgrade Theatre .
Friday 24th May - Year 10 Drayton Manor Trip - if your child is attending please ensure they arrive in school by 8.30am at the latest.
