December
It's exciting to return from Thanksgiving Break, and as we visited classrooms today, it was even more exciting to see children back in the swing of learning! One of our fifth grade teachers had posted a question "why are you excited to be back at school?" It was fun to see the comments students made which included "my teacher, the math learning, finishing my writing piece...and of course, recess, PE, and more! These next three weeks will pass quickly, and we're working to finish our first semester strong! In addition, we will host our first classroom spelling bee on December 18th in grades 3rd-5th so we can prepare for the schoolwide Spelling Bee on Friday, January 10th. Each class will have two students participate in the schoolwide bee for a chance to go to the Scripts Bee held in the Spring.
We will celebrate the "Winter Break" on December 20th with grade level parties. Room parents will be reaching out to ask for donations to make a holiday craft. Each grade level has chosen a craft so families can mark this as their child's 1st grade winter craft to remember this time! Children will be have a small snack, something to drink, and make a craft. Family members are welcome to join in the fun! We are asking that you RSVP to help with sign-in! Families are able to take their children following the celebration, but each family MUST change their child's dismissal to "leaving early, not return" in school dismissal manager!
Keep reading for some more December fun...storybook parade, book fair, and more! Remember, Hisle Hounds howl loud and proud!

Stroybook Parade!
We're excited to celebrate the learning of fairy tales, folk tales, and more that our children have been learning. Our Prek4 through 2nd grade will be able to dress up as a storybook character for a Parade on December 6th! 3rd-5th grade will cheer our younger students as they walk the halls proudly displaying their storybook! Our prek4-2nd grade families are welcome to come and cheer too! We will host families in the cafeteria to allow our main hallway to be clear! Afterwards, children will be able to change clothes so families will want to send a change of clothes! Please mark your calendars!
A few items to note:
- All characters should have a storybook!
- Hands remain free of all props other than the storybook
- Face should be clear from paint and masks.
- Mock/fake weapons should not be a prop.
Excited to enjoy all the storybook characters!
