I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for attending our Open House 2024. The evening was truly amazing, filled with positive energy and excitement. It was the largest turnout we have ever had, and I am genuinely impressed by the overwhelming response!

Our teachers and staff were thrilled with the positive feedback they received, and I share the same sentiment. It was so much fun to see both new and returning faces, and it filled me with joy to experience the vibrant spirit of our Edgewood community.

If you were unable to attend and would like to discuss my opening remarks or hear more about what was shared, I would be happy to set up a time to speak with you.

Thank you once again for your support and for being such an integral part of our school community and welcome to the neighborhood!

MAP Testing Notice

• Next week, we’ll be conducting the Fall MAP tests. This benchmark test provides valuable information to help us support your child’s learning as we start the year. To ensure they are well-rested and ready, we’ve arranged a modified schedule here. We’re excited to see their performance and are confident they will do great!

• Tuesday, September 3rd-Reading
• Wednesday, September 4th-Math
• Thursday, September 5th-Makeup Testing

We are excited to let you know that Picture Day is coming up soon! Attached to this post, you will find a PDF flyer with all the details. We will also be sending home a printed flyer with your child, so please keep an eye out for it.

Please note that this is a prepay event, and the online ordering will close at midnight on Picture Day. If you do not prepay, don’t worry! You will still have the opportunity to order photos using your child's Ticket Code, which will be provided with the bulk picture package order about three weeks after Picture Day. Please be aware that orders placed after Picture Day will include a shipping fee, and the photos will be sent directly to your home.

We would like to inform you that the new iPads issued to students this year do not have built-in headphone jacks. To ensure that students can still use headphones with their devices, Edgewood will provide each student with a headphone adapter. Students are expected to keep and be responsible for their adapter throughout the school year.

In addition to wired headphones using the provided adapter, Bluetooth headphones are also permitted. Please note that Bluetooth headphones are only allowed in the classroom and not in the hallways to ensure that students are connecting only to their iPads and not to their phones during the school day.

If your child needs a headphone adapter, please have them ask their SSB teacher.

Students will receive their new iPads on the first day of school. The iPads will be placed in their SSB, and students will have the opportunity to sign in and set them up during the first days of school.

Students will be able to sign up for Fall sports starting on the first day of school during their lunches.

Attached here is a chart of the sports that are running in the fall, who is eligible to participate, and important dates for the season.

At Edgewood, we offer a wide range of clubs, sports, and after-school activities for students. It's important for students to engage in these extracurricular activities, as they provide valuable opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and skill development beyond the regular classroom experience. Please use this link to see the clubs that we have to offer this year at Edgewood. This will continue to be updated.

Please note there have been adjustments made to our technology procedures in District 112. Please review the following information for updates:

• Two iPad breaks are covered by AppleCare per school year from Aug 1 to July 31.

• The 3rd break in the same school year will be charged at full replacement price: $583. Lost/Stolen iPads will also be charged at full replacement price.

• Lost/Damaged Logitech Crayons will be $25.

• Logitech Crayons will be repaired at a lower cost, if possible.

• Lost/Damaged keyboards will be $120.

• Lost/Damaged chargers will be $28 for cable and brick or $19 each.

• Lost iPads are $687.95 (ipad+case+crayon) to replace. The technology department requests the family files a police report and provide a police report number.

Starting this year, we will have a single, consistent daily schedule and will no longer have "Eagle Days," "Block Days," or similar variations! Please review the new Daily Bell Schedule and Early Release Bell Schedule for Edgewood. You will also see something abbreviated as SSB in the schedule. This stands for “Student Support Block,” a new addition at Edgewood that will occur each day. It will serve as each student's "homeroom" or "advisory" period for the year.

Our late bus service started this week! All students have access to the late bus and can tell the bus driver the location of their home and students will be dropped off.
