I-Ready
Dear Families,
I am excited to share that our school will once again be using the Mathematics and Reading program called i-Ready, an online program that offers personalized learning based on your child’s strengths and areas for growth.
Now that we have administered the i-Ready diagnostic, we will begin using i-Ready Instruction. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn. On average, these lessons take 20 minutes each.
Some things to know about i-Ready at PVA:
Your child should pass 2 lessons in reading each week
Your child should pass 2 lessons in math each week
I-ready use/lesson completion does factor into quarterly grades
If your child is struggling with the lesson material, please reach out to their SDP teacher
If your child has not yet completed the diagnostic, they will be prompted to complete it when they log in
To support your child’s learning with online lessons, you can:
· Discuss your child’s progress on their i-Ready lessons.
· Celebrate your child’s learning and growth.
· Reference these Fridge Tips to provide support.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your child’s learning! To learn more about i-Ready, visit i-ReadyCentral.com/FamilyCenter. You can also reach out to Ms. Weeks or your SDP teacher if you have questions.

Colds, Flu and Preparing for Sick Season
Colds, Flu and Preparing for Sick Season
Viral illnesses like colds, Flu, RSV, and COVID-19 spread more easily during the fall and winter months. As such, we recommend taking measures to protect yourselves by getting the Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as possible. The Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity is providing no-cost Flu and COVID-19 vaccines. You can register for an appointment here.
Your child should attend school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Students with colds, Flu, RSV or COVID-19 should remain home if they have an excessive runny nose, excessive coughing, difficulty breathing, fever, or if they look or act ill. Students may return to school when they are feeling well, as long as symptoms are not present or have improved, and they are fever-free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication. We recommend that students returning to school after COVID-19 wear a well-fitted mask for 5 days after returning to school. You can find more health guidance for school attendance here.
Testing remains a critical measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Testing sites are available throughout the city, find a location here. The federal government is also delivering free at-home tests – four per household – upon request. Visit covid.gov/tests to place your order.
