Hadley’s Triple Fret to Perform at State Music Conference
Hadley’s Triple Fret, an extracurricular ensemble, will perform at the Illinois State Music Conference in Peoria at January 24. Triple Fret is a "fretted orchestra.” A fretted orchestra is much like a traditional orchestra of violins, violas, cellos and bass, but with fretted instruments such as bass guitar, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. Students perform arrangements that range from modern pop songs, to classic Beatles songs, to Classical masterpieces.
Late last school year, Triple Fret students and Director Paul Marchese were invited to the Illinois Music Educator's Conference in Peoria, a gathering of thousands of music teachers throughout the state, to perform a demonstration clinic showing how a school can take non-traditional "folk" instruments and teach music literacy. Students learn to read music using these instruments if given the opportunity to. Triple Fret is the first music ensemble to be invited to play at the Illinois State Music Conference.
