Please pay attention to the important dates below.

• The registration portal will be opened on Monday, February 3rd, and will close on Friday, February 7th.
• On Friday, February 7th, students will turn in all registration information to their math teacher.
• The counselors will also be available during lunches on February 3rd - February 6th to help answer any questions.

Wish Week Online Auction Donations -

Wish Week 2025 will be here before you know it! This year, Rock Canyon is holding a silent online auction for the community to raise money and awareness for our Wish Kid. Last year we raised over $17,000 alone from the auction and every single item was auctioned off!

• This year the auction dates are Friday, February 21st - Thursday, February 27th.

If you're interested, we would love any help from your respective clubs, sports, or businesses. Ideas can include but aren't limited to: themed baskets, gift cards, access to vacation homes/hotels/lodging, tickets to concerts/sporting events, health or beauty services, an original painting by James Pollock, etc.

Funds raised through this auction will directly impact the ability to grant a record number of wishes. In addition, items donated are tax deductible and are free advertising for your group. You may drop off all items to the main office addressed to Hannah Klein by Friday, Feb. 14. Don't hesitate to reach out to Hannah Klein (hcklein@dcsdk12.org) with any questions.

Tests have already been ordered for all students and no additional action needs to be taken unless a student wants to take the SAT with the Optional Essay during the school day test.

Students must test on computers provided by Rock Canyon High School just as they did for the PSAT/NMSQT in October 2024.

Important Information for the Optional Essay:

• Students must register in advance to take the optional SAT Essay.

• The optional SAT essay student registration window is Monday, February 3rd through Friday, February 14, 2025.

• This will be the only opportunity for students who wish to take the optional essay to add it to their April school day SAT test registration.

Additional Information about the Optional Essay:

1. The SAT Essay is scored separately from the rest of the SAT. A student’s score on the essay will not improve or reduce their score on the SAT.

2. Students taking the SAT with essay must be tested in a separate room from students taking the SAT without essay. The SAT with essay will take approximately one hour longer than the SAT without essay.

3. The optional essay is only offered as part of the 11th grade SAT.

• There is no essay option for the PSAT 8/9 for 9th graders or the PSAT 10 for 10th graders.

1. Not all colleges or universities will accept an SAT Essay score, and it is the responsibility of the student to make sure a specific college or university will consider the essay during the admissions process.

SAT Prep Course through Elite Academics

Rock Canyon has partnered with Elite Academics to offer an SAT Preparatory Class at Rock Canyon High School. This class takes place leading up to the April 15th school day SAT. Please see the flier below for more information.

Seniors, please check the senior newsletter frequently for any new updates relating to graduation and senior events.

• The window to buy senior yard signs will be open until 2/28/2025.
• Signs will be ready for pickup in early April and will be handed out during access (exact dates will be communicated late March).
• Any signs not picked up will need to be collected at a nearby home (address will be emailed to you).
• Ensure your student’s FIRST NAME is listed properly as that is what will be printed on the sign.
