Capturing the Joy!
Leadership Message
Each and every day I am filled with gratitude for the contributions, offers, conversations and assistance! Thank you to Mr. Kucher for making our St. Luke sign on Hwy 14 more visible! Thank you to the many families including the Ferguson & Coulombe families who have contributed to our "Chill Ville!" We am humbled and grateful for your help! Thank you to our many parents who are working in the background getting ready for our Welcome Back BBQ! What a great team!
Thank you to the many parents who have made appointments with me to connect, share ideas, ask questions, as well as offer their time and expertise. We have even more ideas coming from staff and students!
Thank you! I am listening.
Many of these ideas are starting to take shape and I will happily share many of the exciting new directions we are headed at the school council meeting on September 23! I also have many questions to ask to gather your thoughts and perspectives! See you there!
We also hope to see you at our Meet the Staff & Free Welcome Back BBQ on Wednesday, Sept. 11. To help our school council team purchase adequate food, thank you for RSVPing here.
There is great learning and growing going on already, and much laughter. This week marked our first GIFT Assembly (Growing in Faith Together). Students sat with their class buddies (example 7&8 class sat with their 2&3 buddies...), a great way to build community!
Each morning we have announcements at which time we pray together, inviting Christ into our day, and listening to how God wants us to live and love together. We also celebrate each student on their "God Made You Day." They come to the office to connect, receive a certificate and pick a little gift. It makes it for a special day. Students have also been invited to bring a joke for me announce. Laughing is good for the soul, and we know God has a great sense of humour. I have received lots of jokes already! It's so fun to laugh with the kids! Keep the jokes coming! Here's one for your laughing pleasure!
What do you a call cheese that's not yours?
Not your cheese (Nacho cheese!!!)

We would like to capture and share pictures of the great connecting and learning happening. In order to do so and share them with you, we need parents to complete the annual consent forms on Powerschool. If you have any questions or run into any snags, please contact Mrs. Bilyk. She is happy to help.
Yours in Christ and a joy filled heart,

Terry Fox Run & Walk in Our Community
On Thursday September 26 from 1:30pm to 2:30pm we will participate in a Terry Fox Run, and run/walk through our South Cooking Lake Community. To help keep our St. Luke family safe and visible on the roads, we are calling on parents to walk/run with us.
Mark your calendars if you can join us, and stay tuned for more information to let us know you can come and run (or walk!).
Please Complete Your Consent Forms
Please log into your Powerschool account and fill out your yearly consent for technology use, communication, fieldtrips and more. Please note that these forms must be completed before your child's first field trip or they may be unable to participate.
If you have not filled out the Demographic form sent out in June please complete it. This gives the school the most current information for your child and family. Alberta Ed requires families to complete this form yearly.
Thank you for taking time to do this. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Bilyk, St. Luke's fantastic secretary. She is delighted to help.

School fees will be added On October 1st. Teachers are still confirming this years fieldtrips.
2024-2025 Faith Theme
We excitedly share this year's Faith Theme of "Rooted in Christ." You will see this theme and our Faith integrated throughout our school, interwoven into each subject area and our daily interactions with each other. We are excited to "Grow Together in Christ at St. Luke Catholic School"
Library Corner
This week in the library the students checked out their textbooks, and came to visit the library and Mrs. Scoggins. Next week regular library classes will start, Sept. 12th and 13th. We are all very excited! It's going to be a great year!
Student Safety
Friendly reminder to parents picking up or dropping off your children:
- Front doors open in the AM at 8:00am and learning begins at 8:05am.
- End of day bell rings at 2:40pm.
- Thank you for remaining with your vehicle when using the drive up pick up/drop off lane.
- Thank you for waiting until all the buses leave to pick up or drop off children, or park in the gravel parking lot and walk to your child's exit door.
Thank you so much for working together to keep everyone safe!
Breakfast Program
We are very grateful for our Nutrition Grant! We will be officially launching our Breakfast program mid September. Until then, thanks to Mrs. Sorensen, breakfast grab & go items will be available to students such as apples, oranges, cheese and other healthy food items. Stay tuned for more details about our Breakfast program!
"Chill Ville" Almost complete!
This space is coming together well and we've received the first feedback from students, "Awesome!" "This is fantastic!"! We just need a few more items for finishing touches...We are looking for:
- cooling eye mask
- indoor water fountain
- play-dough
- yoga mat
- sensory lighting (bubble tube, fibre optic light, twinkle lights)
Thank you in advance for your generosity and for supporting this space for children!
Want to Volunteer @ STL?
We LOVE all volunteers!
In order to volunteer, there are forms to complete and they remain current for the duration your child remains at St. Luke...which means you only have to complete them once!
Please ask your teacher for a hard copy of the forms or reach out to Mrs. Bilyk at stl@eics.ab.ca and she will happily send home the forms!
Here's the plan for our
Meet the Staff & Welcome Back BBQ
Wednesday, September 11 @ 5:30pm
We will begin together in the gym at 5:30pm. After that, we will break bread together (eating hot dogs and hamburgers) and connecting with each other. At 6:50pm teachers will open your child's classroom so that you can take a quick peek at your child's learning space this year. At 7:00pm we wrap up the night and express our thanks for you joining us. Then we'll see St. Luke students bright and early the next day!
Please ensure you RSVP how much food you will be eating as School Council will be checking your name off the list to ensure everyone gets food. Please complete the form if you haven't yet.
Please use this link to RSVP!! https://forms.gle/zdGgH1DZiMgoFY5w7
The BBQ is free to you, we simply ask for you to RSVP so we now know much food to purchase!
Ordering is OPEN!
The deadline for orders and payment is Sunday, September 8th.
How do I order Hot Lunch?
ALL parents will need to create a new login as it will not carry over from last year. You are welcome to use the same login/password as last year.
To create a hot lunch account:
Go to https://stlukeschool.hotlunches.net/
Click on "Click Here to Register"
Enter Access Code stluke
Complete the rest of the registration form. (Including your email address will ensure you receive reminder emails about hot lunch order deadlines, and your child's hot lunch order for the upcoming week)
Click the "Register Now" button at the bottom
Follow the instructions to add each child in your family who attends St. Luke. Once your child(ren) are registered, click on "Orders"
Proceed to order hot lunch for your child(ren)
You must pay with a credit card via Bambora.
The hot lunch online order system requires a small amount of setup time at the beginning as you must register each child you have attending our school prior to ordering hot lunch EACH YEAR. Once the initial setup process is complete, your hot lunch orders for the remainder of the year should be quick and simple.
What if my child is away or sick on a hot lunch day?
If you know your child will miss one of the pre-ordered lunches, please contact Shelby at hotlunchstluke@gmail.com. If there is enough notice, we may be able to cancel and refund your order.
If your child is sick or there is not enough notice to cancel, you can let the team know via hotlunchstluke@gmail.com or via FB messenger if you'd like to have the hot lunch sent home with a sibling, or given to another student at school.
If you have any questions or require support setting up your account or ordering, please do not hesitate to contact Shelby Mistecki at hotlunchstluke@gmail.com.
