Kōkopu Newsletter
Term 4 Week 7 Monday 25th November 2024
Principals Message
Kia ora Kōkopu whānau,
As the year draws to a close, our students are continuing to work hard and give their best right until the final bell.
Cultural Festival Success
Our Room 3 and Room 6 students gave an outstanding performance at the recent Mangakahia Cultural Festival. Their pride and passion shone through, and their performance was a highlight of the event. A huge thank you to Whaea J, who has stepped into the Kapa Haka tutor role over the past few weeks. We also want to acknowledge the mahi of our senior students who have led Kapa Haka throughout the year as we transitioned to a new tutor. This truly reflects our school values and the Tuakana-Teina approach we uphold here at Kōkopu School. Check out the video below to relive the magic!
Athletics Day Highlights
After a rain delay, we were thrilled to hold a fantastic Athletics Day last Tuesday. The sun was shining, sunscreen was essential, and the PTA’s refreshments were a welcome treat. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to help run events—it wouldn’t have been the same without you!
Staff Only Day Update
Thank you for your understanding and support around our Staff Only Day last Friday. The day was highly productive, with our teaching team diving into the new English curriculum that must be implemented next year. There’s still work to do, and we’ll soon begin unpacking the new Mathematics curriculum too. With our strong teaching team and support staff, we’re confident we’ll meet these challenges head-on.
Property Updates
Exciting progress is being made with our property projects:
- The new car parks and driveway are prepped for sealing.
- The old “Area 42” bush area has been cleared in preparation for the installation of a new septic system.
- Concrete is being poured today for the new staircase leading to the top car park.
Unfortunately, due to these projects, pool keys will not be issued this year, as the works will limit access to the school grounds. Thank you for your understanding.
Dates to Note
As we approach the end of the year, there are many events to look forward to. Please keep an eye on the dates below to ensure you don’t miss any of the fun and important moments ahead.
Thank you all for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Together, we’re making Kōkopu School a fantastic place to learn and grow.
