Update from Mrs. Lomonico
Dear Toll Gate Elementary Families,
How is it the week before Spring Break?? I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for your partnership throughout the 2023-2024 school year. Your incredible support has been the driving force behind our school community's success, and we truly can't do this without you.
TGE students continue to showcase remarkable grit and stamina in their academic pursuits. As we gear up for the last few months of the school year, we're actively #GatoringUp! Our iReady Challenge for this month is similar to March Madness, and it is in full swing with classes competing in reading and math percentages weekly. We're working diligently to fill gaps and stretch our students to reach new heights.
Our Right to Read Week (R2RW) is scheduled for April 2-5, 2024, with the theme "Reading is out of this World!" Exciting activities are planned, and we're tying R2RW into our Science Night. Get ready for a week filled with cosmic fun! There is more information below!
We're thrilled to announce that The Works will be visiting TGE on April 3 during the day. This will help to springboard us into our 1st TGE Science Night on the same evening. Stay tuned for more information and videos (and the videos will be coming soon). This event is 100% free of charge, and we can't wait to make it a memorable experience for everyone. There is more information below!
Join us for an amazing time at our first annual TGE golf outing! Golfing is limited to 36 foursomes, and it is first come first serve. For anyone who wants to sponsor or donate, please feel free to do so. We will also have student signs that you can put in your yard after the outing as well (in the sponsorship document)! Please reach out if you have any questions!
Thank you for your continued dedication to the Toll Gate Elementary community. Let's make this week fantastic. Spring Break will begin on March 25, 2024, and students will return to classes on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. I encourage our TGE families to take this well-deserved opportunity to relax, recharge, and return with renewed energy for the remaining school year. This is a lengthy newsletter, but I encourage you to take a moment to explore all the exciting updates and information.
Best regards,
Erika Lomonico

PLSD Community Festival is March 16 @ TGMS!
Pickerington Schools CommUNITY Cultural Festival will host a special viewing of The Columbus Crossing Borders Art Project on March 16th!
The Columbus Crossing Borders Project is an art exhibit and documentary film created to inspire critical thinking, understanding and compassion for the world's refugees and marginalized communities.
Our CommUNITY Cultural Festival will showcase the Columbus Crossing Borders art exhibit which features the work of 34 participating artists who were each asked to create a painting that would "cross borders" into the painting beside it. For example, you may see a sunrise reaching from one painting into the next or perhaps a figure is running between two paintings. These artists have created spaces to allow their works to overlap and integrate, resulting in a cooperative creative community. To view a short Cincinnati TV news feature about the art exhibit: https://vimeo.com/509029709
The "Breathe Free" documentary is a beautiful and thought-provoking film which premiered at the Drexel Theatre in Columbus, Ohio to a sold-out audience. This film is a great watch prior to viewing the Crossing Borders art exhibit in person to get a greater understanding of the project. To view the documentary (50 minutes): https://vimeo.com/480142967/d1a019265d?share=copy
We look forward to you attending, and seeing the Columbus Crossing Borders Project in person at our CommUNITY Cultural Festival on March 16th at Toll Gate Middle School from 10am - 2pm!
