Principal's Desk
Hello Pease Families!
Welcome back from a long winter's nap! I hope that you had a fantastic break and were able to spend some quality time making beautiful memories. The first semester has finished and report cards will be coming out soon. Please review grades and attendance with your children to celebrate and see where improvement is needed.
The weather is getting colder, please have children wear appropriate outerwear to stay warm. If any assistance is needed please reach out to our counselors, Communities In Schools (CIS), or Parent and Family Engagement liaison. Students are not allowed to bring blankets and pillows to school. Those items are a distraction to the learning environment. We will continue to have incentives to encourage attendance.
The next round of MAP testing will occur soon for math and reading. We are looking for growth in every single student. Studies show that proper nutrition and sleep promote alertness and reasoning skills needed to focus on assignments and assessments. All students are able to enjoy both breakfast and lunch at school. Several clubs and organizations exist on campus to connect students to our community. I encourage all students to get involved in something!
Continued Core Goals at Pease:
- Safety and security remain our #1 focus
- Academic achievement well beyond the bare minimum
- Excellent attendance for both staff and students
- Community partnership with parents, families, and community partners
- Building student resilience and positive belief in themselves
Side-by-side,
Mrs. Cuevas
Proud Pease Principal

PARENTS AND FAMILIES, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT WITH OUR END OF DAY PROCEDURES! WE APPRECIATE THE PARTNERSHIP!
AWAY FOR THE DAY
- Cell phones & earbuds must be turned off and out of sight for the instructional school day from 7:40AM-3:55PM
- Cell phones, electronic devices, & earbuds are NOT allowed in the hallways or bathrooms. Taking pictures or recording others on campus is NOT allowed and may result in a CAT IV offense.
- Electronic device violations WILL result in a referral and parents being contacted.
- If parents need to contact their child during the school day, please contact the front office. We will assist you with contacting your child. Texting and calling your child during class distracts from their instructional time with the teacher.
DRESS CODE: REMINDERS
- NO hats or hoodies worn on the head while in the building
- NO blankets/pillows
- NO pajamas
Below are parts of the dress code that we generally address on a daily basis. We appreciate your help and support. Consequences for dress code violations are given by the Associate Principal's Office.
● Any clothes that are suggestive or indecent or which cause a distraction will be prohibited. Specifically, oversized clothing, tank tops, muscle shirts, halter/crop tops, spaghetti straps, exposed backs or midriffs, and see-through garments are prohibited.
● All pants are to be worn at the waist (no “sagging”) Tight fitting pants (e.g. tights, spandex, bicycle pants, etc.) are also prohibited. Frays or holes above the knees are prohibited.
● Hoods of jackets and caps are not to be worn in the building.
Final determination of acceptable dress and grooming rests with the principal or her designee.
NORTHSIDE'S SAFETY FIRST
Messaging regarding the use of Metal Detectors *
NISD has purchased additional metal detectors to be used at our schools. The high schools
piloted the program last year and now Middle Schools will be using them for the 2024-25 school
year. As a part of this pilot program, detectors will routinely be moved from one site to another.
Their use will allow for random checks of students, staff, or visitors and will be coordinated by
NISD Police and campus administration. This will also support the work of our Police canine
unit.
This initiative is underway at all of our secondary schools and will continue through the
remainder of the school year.
We are committed to keeping our schools safe for students and staff and will continue to be
proactive in the measures we take to achieve this goal.
For more information on our Safety First campaign, visit our Safety First website at nisd.net/schools/safety.

Here's What's Happening in PTA!
We Have A WINNER!!!
Congratulations to our Science Teacher, Mrs. Kistner who won our Pease PTA membership drawing. She won 6 tickets to see the San Antonio SPURS play! Thanks to Mr. Olivares for gifting them and Elmer's for sponsoring the giveaway!
The spirit of giving was definitely the highlight of PEASE PTA in December! 12 Pease families benefited from the heartfelt expression of PEASE teachers, staff and parents who wanted to give the gift of giving in it's true origin by adopting a family for Christmas! Thanks to such amazing act of KINDNESS! The smiles that were given were indeed received! This is undoubtedly one more reason #WeChoosePease Thank you PTA, parents, teachers and staff!!

Dean's Message
Hello Parents!
We have already had 3 rounds of testing this year with more to come! Please make sure to remind your students that they do not get to have phones out during testing- in fact, during STAAR testing, they will have to turn all technology, including phones, into their teacher. More to come on that when we get closer to STAAR testing next semester. New this year, students will have to have their badges for STAAR testing.
High School Credit Courses & Attendance Recovery
Please remember that students in high school credit courses do have to maintain their attendance in order to earn credit for that course. If a student has 8 or more absences this semester, they will need to go to attendance recovery. It will be at the same time as our tutoring sessions in the library. Thank you for your support and partnering with us for your child's education!
