March 9 - March 13, 2020
Happy spring break week! I hope everyone has time to catch up on projects or to at least take a few deep breaths before the midpoint withdrawal deadline!
There are two great opportunities for students seeking work or involvement with Franklin College. We've posted two Orientation Assistant positions this summer. You can view the position information below. Also, Franklin College is seeking Franklin Ambassadors! Information about this opportunity also appears below.
Please contact me at mjenn@uga.edu if you have suggestions or if there is anything you'd like me to include in the digest.
For Advisors
Important Information and Action Items for Advisors
SAGE Update
- Major Organizations in SAGE: This change will allow advisors to accurately filter their students by major so they can create notes, assign tracking items, etc. in bulk. Another great thing about having these Major Organizations in SAGE is that it allows for us to have delegated reporting! This functionality allows delegates from schools and colleges to pull accurate reports in SAGE for their major/school/college! Please reach out to Julia or Ashley about delegated reporting for your unit.
Back by Popular Demand: The Orientation Calendar!
- A few folks have asked for a copy of the summer orientation calendar. I've attached it. Please let Kellee or I know if you have questions.
Brooks Hall Advisors
- Please be mindful to clean out in a timely manner any containers of food you've left in the breakroom fridge. Brenda cleaned out three containers this morning that had been left in the fridge for a very long time. Doing this isn't part of her job duties, so just make sure to double check that you haven't left anything in the fridge for a long time. If one of those containers is yours, it is now soaking in the sink.
Upcoming Meetings
Workplace Wellness Event, March 11th, 11:00 am -12:00 pm 348, Brooks Hall.
- Join us for puzzles and coloring to celebrate spring break week!
Wellness Outing to UGarden, Tuesday, March 10th, 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
For those attending, we'll be driving out to Ugarden at 1:30. Our shift will last from 2 to 4, and because of rain we'll be working in their greenhouse. We'll need to carpool so meet outside of 301 Brooks Hall at 1:20 to work out who is driving whom. Let Beth Kozinsky elroko@uga.edu know if you have questions.

Writing Tutoring
Please encourage students to participate in Undergraduate Writing tutoring. Undergraduate Writing tutors are able to help students within a variety of disciplines, but are especially helpful for those students who are enrolled in a writing intensive course—for example, ENGL 1101 or ENGL 1102. Attending peer tutoring appointments or drop-in times are a wonderful way for students to engage with class material, as well as with their peers.
Currently, DAE offers Undergraduate Writing drop-in hours at the following times and locations:
- Russell Academic Center, room 126
- Monday - Thursday from 6 to 9 pm
- Miller Learning Center, room 341
- Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 to 11 am and 1 to 4 pm
- Tuesday 10 to 4 pm
- Friday 10 to 3 pm
- Milledge Hall, room 109
- Tuesday 6 - 8:50 pm
- Wednesday 6 - 7:50 pm
They also offer scheduled appointment times, which students can register for through SAGE. Information about appointments can be found on the Division of Academic Enhancement website (dae.uga.edu), and any questions can be sent to tutor@uga.edu.
Attached to this email is a flyer advertising Undergraduate Writing tutoring.
