School Supply Pre-order
EPI School Supply Pre-orders
We are again offering a convenient way to pre-order school supplies for the next school year. You can order at educationproducts.com/shoppacks and use the School ID: LON017. Due to delivery timelines and construction on campus this summer, this year's packs will be delivered directly to your home and not to campus.
We are also exploring ways to link our lists to Amazon for convenient ordering and shipping to your home.
Stowe's Sticky Notes
What an amazing school year we have had! It's hard to believe that it has come and gone this quickly. Over the past 170+ days our students have grown leaps in Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies. In addition to all the great relationships that they have made with teachers and friends. We've had a busy year. Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Celebrated grandparents' day with two breakfasts
- Celebrated Attendance Awareness Week, Red Ribbon Week, and collected donations of over 5,000 lbs of peanut butter for the Montgomery County Food Bank
- Ran our Fun Run inside the building with a last minute switch to a glow run due to the weather, exceeded our fundraising goal for our PTA, and turned the principal into a human ice-cream sundae
- Added new and refreshed playground equipment on all three playgrounds, and had a new volleyball court donated on the 3rd-5th grade play ground
- Enjoyed a program and art work from each grade-level with themes from celebrating Veteran's Day to singing Baby Beluga
- Watched a movie on the lawn together with popcorn and Chick-fil-a
- Painted Christmas pottery together while enjoying hot cocoa and a visit from Santa himself
- Met and welcomed our new Superintendent, Dr. Mark Ruffin
- Hosted a PTA watch party on helping families navigate the smart phone era
- Celebrated a Spring Carnival with blow-ups and prizes, with teachers and administrators in the dunk tank
- Won the back-to-back titles of iReady Champions for our iReady Spirit Week versus Keenan Elementary.
- Had snow cones to celebrate reaching our personal goals and duct-taped the Principal and AP to the wall
- Went on field trips to new and familiar locations making memories with our friends
- Robotics' teams won 1st and 2nd place at the Montgomery County Fair
- Learned about and experienced a few moments of a solar eclipse before the rain came down!
- Showcased student work at the District Art Exhibit and at the GT Showcase
- Had students perform in the district elementary musical
- Learned about the cosmos under the SkyDome planetarium
- Had 5 Tribe Days and learned about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
- Applied and served in new leadership roles in the classroom and the campus
We're still growing and learning, and our online resources such as iReady and Amplify will be available through about the middle of July. Students (and parents) can access these resources via Classlink.
To help us learn what is going well and what we might need to focus on in the future, as part of the Leader in Me framework we conduct a Measurable Results Assessment. This is a survey that we would love for our families to fill out so that we can make better goals for next year. You can access the Leader in Me MRA here. The MRA will be available to complete until May 31, 2024.
And with that the 23-24 School Year comes to a close. Thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped us make Lone Star an amazing place to learn and grow. We will see our returning students on August 15, 2024 for the First Day of School.

Yearbook Information
Unfortunately, Balfour has let PTA know that they will not have yearbooks delivered prior to the end of the school year. Fall delivery is common for secondary, but this should be a one-time occurrence with their printer.
We are requesting autograph books for students to collect signatures and planning for a signing party when yearbooks come in. We will make sure to communicate with you once we have a delivery date.

ARRIVAL REMINDERS
The most important reminder is to drive safely and be courteous to everyone in the mornings.
Here are a few other important reminders:
- The car-rider line is the ONLY method of car drop-off available and it closes at 8:15am.
- If you are parking your car, you MUST WALK your students into the school. They cannot be dropped off at the curb to avoid the car-rider line.
- If your child is attending a before school activity, please walk them to the front door and wait for the appropriate staff member to arrive to collect them.
- Curbside drop-off is never allowed.
- If you arrive after 8:15am, please park and walk your children inside the front office for a Tardy pass.
Nurse's Notes
Hello, Longhorn Families!
All medications and supplies will need to be picked up by 3:00 on May 22, 2024. Any medications/supplies left in clinic after 3:00 on May 22, 2024 will be properly disposed of. Alerts at the first signs of danger
When possible dangers arise on school-issued accounts, Bark for Schools sends us alerts so we can address the situation in a timely manner. These alerts also give us insights that help us promote the wellness of students.
Sign up to get alerts with Parent Portal
Students use their school-issued accounts both at school and at home, and families are often in a better position to respond to urgent alerts after hours, on weekends, and during breaks. To receive an invitation to create your optional free account for the Bark for Schools Parent Portal, please navigate to bit.ly/MISDbark and fill out the request form. As soon as you opt-in, you’ll be able to receive after-hours alerts if Bark detects potentially time-sensitive issues.

Dismissal Notes & START and END Times
If you arrive after 8:15am, you will need to park in the parking lot and escort your children inside for a tardy pass. Students may not be dropped off.
Transportation changes can be made through PikMyKid up until 2pm each day.
The last time to check out a student early is 3:00pm. If you have an emergency, please contact the front office.
School ends each day 3:40pm and dismissal begins at that time. Please keep these times and the time it takes to dismiss all students in mind as you register students for extra-curricular activities.
At dismissal, if you need to buckle a child into a seat for car rider, after your child is safely in the car, please pull forward into a visitor parking spot so that you can safely buckle in your child and keep our line moving.
