Reynolds' Report
Hello Roadrunner Families!
It's officially fall, though the weather continues to think that it is summer! With cooler mornings and warmer afternoons, our lost and found is starting to fill up. Be sure to have your child check the lost and found for missing items. If they are unable to find them, you are welcome to check in at the office and see if you can find it as well.
We also have great success with returning sweaters to students whose names are clearly printed on the inside. Thank you for your help clearing out our lost and found!
This Thursday is our October Coffee Chat with Ms. Reynolds. We will have a special guest, Mikaela Zimmerman, our District Community Schools Coordinator. She is joining us to share more about the Community Schools Grant that we received, share some ideas of how the funding could be used, and get feedback from you on what things you think our Community School needs. We hope you will be able to join us!
Lastly, remember that this upcoming weekend is our Fall Mini Break. There will be no school on Friday, October 11th or Monday October 14th. We will see your student back bright and early on October 15th!
Have a spectacular week, Roadrunners!

Topic of the Week
Managing Big or Uncomfortable Feelings: Using our Senses
In this week's assembly, we continued talking about strategies to manage big or uncomfortable feelings. Over the next few weeks, we will explore a variety of strategies to help us when our feelings become big or uncomfortable. The goal of this is to help students learn to self-regulate so that when their emotions get big, they feel empowered to calm themselves and be ready for learning again!
Check out the three techniques we practiced for using our senses this week!

Updates and Important Information
Meet Our Staff : Michelle Ansbro
Meet Mrs. Ansbro! Mrs. Ansbro joined our team this year as our wonderful school psychologist. She works to ensure that our students are getting the interventions they need to support their cognitive skills and mental health! School psychologists wear many hats at our school, there are a lot of parts to their job! Mrs. Ansbro has jumped right in to help and we're so glad she is here!
Why did you decide to work in education?
My best friend struggled in school and was diagnosed with a learning disability her Junior year. After seeing what she went through, I wanted to help others. The brain and learning also fascinate me so I found a career that allowed me to combine both of these interests.
What is your favorite thing about your career?
I love testing for disabilities and helping families connect the larger picture of their child's learning profile. I also love helping students understand the "why" behind their personal strengths and weaknesses.
What was your favorite part about being in elementary school?
My family moved around so often during my elementary school years that I wasn't able to develop a favorite part of being in elementary school. I definitely honed my grit and resilience skills of knowing how to be flexible since I was often the new kid.
What is your favorite color?
I don't have a favorite but I do like black, blue, and green. Fall is my favorite time of the year and I love colors associated with this season
What is your favorite food?
My grandma's biscuits and gravy but mostly for the memories.
What is your favorite pet?
Hands down dogs!! I have a special needs dog at home who is always happy to see me which is the best after a rough day.

- Ensure that your students costume is free from blood, weapons, and is dress code appropriate.
- Donate candy or trinkets to your student's classroom!
- Send your student with a bucket or bag to collect their treats in.
- Ask your student's teacher if they need someone to pass out candy or trinkets at the door.
We are proud participants in the Teal Bucket Project, so many teachers will have teal buckets filled with trinkets for students with food allergies so they can safely participate in the event!

Box Tops for Education
Box Tops collection continues digitally all year with the Box Tops app. First Street School gets $0.10 for each Box Top scanned for our school. While that isn't much on its own, the whole school community collecting them from Participating Products throughout the year can earn enough to pay for things like software memberships, supplies for classroom activities, or other low cost school support.
- Earn Box Tops for participating products by scanning receipts with the Box Tops app.
- When you shop online or use delivery services, you can earn Box Tops by forwarding your e-receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com or by uploading it with the Box Tops app. Learn more about submitting e-receipts here.

Updated COVID Protocols
Student Quarantine:
Effective this year, California Department of Public Health has replaced most of the requirements about student quarantine with recommendations. The one remaining requirement is that students who are ill must be fever-free for at least 24 hours without the aide of fever-reducing medications before they are able to return to school.
