The Principal's Corner
Hi Sixers!
March kicked off with an exciting celebration of literacy at School #6! We started strong with our Scholastic Book Fair, welcomed an incredible children's book author, enjoyed visits from guest readers, and wrapped it all up with a fantastic Family Literacy Night. It was a joy to see our students, teachers, and staff come together to make this week such a success!
Huge THANK YOU to our guest author and all of our guest readers! Your presence made all of our students SMILE! I also want to give a shout-out to our amazing Sixers families who took time out of their busy schedules to support our literacy initiatives. Your involvement makes all the difference in fostering a love of reading in our students. Thank you for being part of this wonderful week of learning and connection!
I kindly ask that you take part in helping us judge our door decorating contest via the link below. Voting will end on March 14th! Go check it out and VOTE! Link button below!

Health and Wellness Reminders from Nurse Falk
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Good dental health is an important part of your child’s overall well-being, and as we focus on keeping our students healthy, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of good oral hygiene. Establishing healthy dental habits early helps set the foundation for a lifetime of bright smiles!
Here are some simple tips for maintaining healthy teeth:
- Brush Twice a Day – Make sure your child brushes their teeth for two minutes in the morning and before bed with fluoride toothpaste.
- Floss Daily – Flossing helps remove food particles and plaque from between teeth, where a toothbrush can’t reach.
- Limit Sugary Snacks – Try to reduce sugary foods and drinks like candy, soda, and juice, as they can contribute to tooth decay.
- Regular Dental Visits – Schedule routine dental checkups for your child, ideally every six months, to catch any issues early.
- Protect Teeth During Sports – If your child plays contact sports, ensure they wear a mouthguard to prevent injuries to their teeth.
Remember, teaching your child to take care of their teeth not only helps with their smile but also boosts their confidence and health. If you have any concerns about your child's dental health, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Together, we can ensure that our students maintain healthy, happy smiles!
Warm regards,
Nurse Falk BSN, RN

Please be aware of the following, noted in the Elementary School Handbook page 7: Parents requesting their child be excused from school before the school day ends must send written verification in advance signifying the reason, time, and who will pick up the student.
