Jr. & Sr. High Update
December 6, 2024
Here at Reedsville High, we sure have a lot to be thankful for! We are thankful for our teachers & staff who truly care and support our students on their educational journey. We are also thankful for our Panther community - for the trust and confidence that you have for our school and district is greatly appreciated. And we are most grateful for our parents and guardians of our amazing students. As we all know, it takes a village and are thankful for this partnership.
With the holiday season, it is important to tell our stories of what we are grateful for. Who are your thankful for? What have you been blessed with? I hope that through this season you can share those stories with those around you. I know my story focuses much around this school and district. I am so fortunate to be surrounded by amazing students, a tremendous team, and a supportive community. Thank you!!
Please see the newsletter for important reminders and upcoming events. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Go Panthers!

Holiday Tips and Tricks from Mrs. DeMeyer
'Tis the season for the hustle and bustle of the holidays! Parents, when checking in on your child's Christmas list, teens tend to have tech on the top of their wish list. Santa is well aware of how kiddos can enjoy and stay safe with their new technology/devices and you should be too. As students become teenagers, they may begin testing boundaries & start becoming more independent. Guiding, modeling and having clear communication regarding tech use is vital to keeping children safe. You are NOT prying by monitoring your child's online behavior...you are being a proactive parent.
Before children receive a techy gift, parents should:
• Research the device
• Set up the device ahead of your child opening it.
• Create a "Family Agreement" that sets expectations as well as boundaries.
• Have open conversations about online activity. Conversation starters
There are 2 fantastic articles linked below that every parent should read.
They are filled with valuable information as well as eye-opening statistics regarding children of all ages and the technology they use.
- https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ (An overall great site with guidance for parents as well as tips & FAQs broken down by age, topic, and platform.)
AI Deepfakes are rampant. PLEASE talk to your child/children about the use of AI to fool/manipulate people. The "Tips to protect yourself" section covers it all and can facilitate great discussions.
