Palmer Catholic Academy of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church provides a Catholic and Christ-centered educational environment that inspires all students to reach their full spiritual and academic potential and become responsible, respectful, and reverent disciples of Christ.

I hope everyone stayed warm during the cold spell last week! Looking forward to warmer temperatures this week!

If your child has "lost" any non-Palmer clothing items, please let us know! We have a large bag full of items that will be donated to Good Will at the end of the month.

We will continue with our weekly Adoration on Wednesday, January 24 from 9:30 AM - 2:45 PM in the PCA Chapel. Cleared parents are welcome to participate. Friday is our 100th day of school! Students can dress down with PCA spirit wear or blue shirts. All dress down day rules apply. Students who do not follow dress down day rules will be given a uniform from the uniform closet to change into unless a parent can bring a change of clothes.

-SPF is a measurement of how long a sunscreen will protect your skin from UV rays. The higher the SPF, the longer it will protect you and your skin.

-An SPF 15 sunscreen screens approximately 93% of the sun’s UVB rays; SPF 30 protects against 97%.

-SPF indicates how long it will take for UVB rays to redden skin when using a sunscreen compared to how long skin would take to redden without the product.

-Someone using SPF 15 sunscreen will take 15 times longer to redden than they would without the sunscreen.

Please see below for information on how to select the best sunscreen.

PCA uses a Virtues in Practice Program. Each month we focus on a specific virtue and different grade levels learn about a saint who exemplifies that virtue. At the end of month, there will be a family assignment to complete about the virtue. Each class will choose a Disciple of the Month based on the virtue.

January's virtue of the month is FIDELITY. Fidelity is being faithful to promises and commitments.

grades 6-8: St. Gianna Molla
