Greetings Patriot Families,

The Fayette County Board of Education is seeking your feedback in the form of our School Climate Survey for Families. This survey will serve to inform how we of we can improve teaching and learning, school safety, and community relationships. The deadline to complete this survey is Thursday, October 31, 2024 and we need 100% participation. The details and link to complete this survey can be found below.

The Fine Arts Department will host our annual Escape the Trail on Tuesday, October 28, 2028. This will be a family friendly event and we are encouraging everyone to come out and support our students.

Our Varsity Cheerleaders earned a 2nd Place finish in a Competitive Cheer competition in LaGrange over the weekend. Congratulations to Coach Lewis and our Varsity Volleyball team on a great season! We look forward to continued growth in the years to come! Our Flag Football team defeated Charles Drew High School 21-0 and Lovejoy High School, 21-14 last Wednesday. Our Varsity Football team fell to Mary Persons on Friday, 29-37! We are back in action this Friday in our final regular season home game to celebrate Senior Night. Please come out and support our Patriots on the Battlefield! Our AFJROTC Cadets volunteered at the Peachtree City Air Show over the weekend and raised funds to support an upcoming trip to Washington, DC. SCHS Patriot Players participated in the Region 2-AAA One Act Play Competition on October 23, 2024. Congratulations to Hannah Hoggs and Victoria Smith for making it into the Region’s All-Star!

School climate is important for improving school safety, the quality of teaching and learning, and the strength of relationships in our schools. Please complete this anonymous school climate survey to provide your feedback. Your input is essential to the success of our school district! The survey will be open through October 31, 2024.

The math lab will now be open during study hall on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please tell students to request a pass to 226 if they need tutoring. I'm also attaching something you can post if you'd like.

Congratulations to Ms. Bergland's 1st period class for collecting the most cans during the first week of the Sandy Creek Food Drive. The class was rewarded with donuts and orange juice this morning. Please continue to bring in food items. The next collection will be Wednesday the 30th and the weekly prize provided next Friday.

I wanted to inform you that the DPH has extended the Immunization Audit deadline to October 25, 2024, due to issues with the Georgia IMM registry.

Please send me the updated 3231 forms with the MCV4 information for your students as soon as possible, as I currently don’t have access to the GA registry to verify them. A copy of the form from your doctor is necessary for my records.

If any students are missing documentation, I will reach out to you via email.

Please provide the nurse with copies for your students Immunization records on the GA Form 3231. I also need a copy of your students' 3300 Form ( Hearing, Vision, Dental and Nutrition). If you have not done so please make an appointment with your private doctor to request these documents be completed or the Health department.

About Notable Narratives:

NN is a 501 (c)(3) college essay service organization that provides completely free college essay editing services to first generation and/or low income (FGLI) high school seniors applying to college. We do this by pairing college applicants with FGLI college students, as having an advisor that comes from a similar background will allow students to feel more comfortable receiving help

Since our founding in August 2020:

• Our 90 FGLI college advisors have assisted over 1,750 students from 102 unique countries and all 50 states.

• 1 in 4 students who filled out our annual survey were accepted into an Ivy League or Stanford University.

• 94% of our students were BIPOC, and 50% identified as both first-generation and low-income.

Next Steps:

Attached is a Registration Form for you to share with your students. NN’s services are available to those who self-identify as low income and/or first generation; students do not need to identify as both to apply. I will also be sending this resource to the SCHS counselors.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.

• Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
• Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
• After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
