Week of October 7
For Every Action, There’s A Reaction—So Let’s Make Them Positive!
Ms. Engleman's 8th grade scientists applied Newton's Laws in class on Wednesday, October 9. Newton's 3rd Law specifically states that, "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." This means that when one object exerts a force on another, the second object exerts the same amount of force in the opposite direction. This principle helps us understand interactions in the physical world, from walking to rocket propulsion! However, Goodnight students made the lesson come to life through a friendly balloon jousting competition. Shoutout to Ms. Englman for her interACTIVE lesson – the obvious reaction to your passionate teaching style is that you inspire your students to embrace science!
The Race to Regionals
The San Marcos Running Rattlers competed in the District 27-6A Meet at Starcke Park in Seguin, Texas on Monday, October 7. Eleanor Smith placed 1st in District with a school record time of 18:05! Connor McGlothlin was the district runner up for the boys and Aaralyn Julian will join the duo at the Regional meet on Oct. 21 in Corpus Christi! Congrats on a great season to all our runners and we wish those continuing on to the Regional Meet the best of luck!

SMCISD Shoutout – Fields of Faith
Fields of Faith is an initiative by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) that aims to encourage students to openly share their faith and engage in spiritual discussions. Typically held in school sports fields or stadiums, the event invites students, athletes, and community members to come together for testimonies, worship, and prayer. The goal is to promote a positive environment, foster relationships, and inspire youth to live out their faith in sports and everyday life. It’s a powerful way to connect faith with athletics and encourage leadership among young people. Shoutout to the TXST FCA student-athletes for joining our Rattlers on this event!
