September is Food Literacy Month
Food Literacy Month is about understanding the impact of your food choices on your health, the environment, and our economy. Being food literate empowers us to make informed choices. By being able to obtain, process, and understand nutrition information and skills, you can make appropriate nutrition decisions.
Challenge yourself and family to 5 or more of these Nutrition and Wellness Activities for the week of 9/25. Go and have a meatless Monday and try new zesty recipes! Or you can try some fun pumpkin recipes for the fall season. It is also important to review nutrition labels and do all we can to reduce food waste. Access full calendar with clickable links here.
- Monday, September 25: Meatless Monday, try a recipe here; Family Walk; Shop Simple
- Tuesday, September 26: Encourage students to eat EMCSD's fresh fruit at school; Start a garden; Add plant protein to your breakfast, lunch, or dinner
- Wednesday, September 27: Harvest of the Month; Wellness Exercises; Save money by buying and drinking water instead of soda.
