UPDATES:

• 1/24 2nd trimester Progress Reports Grades 1-6 (Gr 7 & 8 use Infinite Campus)
• 1/31 POPCORN DAY!
• 2/7 Someone Special dance gr. K-4
• UPPER SCHOOL spirit days:

• Friday 2/7: Rhyme Without Reason Day (Students will dress as a rhyming pair with a friend. For example: a DJ and PJs or a cat and a hat)

• Wednesday 2/26: High School / College Gear (Students will wear any high school or college apparel)

• 2/12 NJHS induction ceremony
• 2/13 Grade 7/8 dance

We need your help! Our fundraiser to offset the costs of the 8th grade celebration week will be starting soon. Please consider donating $25 gift cards to local establishments. These gifts will be part of the important calendar fundraiser done in March.

MHS Open House- Thursday February 6, 2025 5:30-7:00pm

In October a group of MHS students and staff made a roadshow presentation at all 4 grammar schools to promote Methuen High School as a destination school. After an outpouring of requests from parents to see the presentation, we are happy to present the MHS roadshow presentation to families of all 7th and 8th grade prospective MHS students. We hope that you will join us in our schools auditorium as we present all that we have to offer at Methuen High School. Afterwards enjoy a tour of the building by one of our current students and/or enjoy a Methuen High School athletic event free of admissions charge. We look forward to seeing everyone on February 6.

We have collected many generous donations of clothing and outerwear. We are looking for a parent volunteer to help organize and inventory our stock. If you are interested, even if it is once a week, please email me @ keproietti@methuen.k12.ma.us to inquire.

The Methuen School Committee is actively bargaining with the Methuen Education Association for Unit A (teachers) and Unit C (program assistants). In an effort to be transparent about the process and information being shared, there is a link on the MPS website titled collective bargaining updates. Methuen School Committee values all MPS educators and the need for fair and equitable contracts while working within the constraints of the MPS operating budget.

Our CGS parent amabassadors have been connecting with families by providing welcome emails and access to school information. These thoughtful ambassadors can serve as knowledgeable resources to any CGS caregiver seeking guidance. The ambassadors are willing to support caregivers with questions related to Infinite Campus, Spirit Days, Google Classroom, school lunch and clubs/activities along with other topics. If you would like to connect with a CGS ambassador, please click the link to locate the correct ambassador for your child's grade.

Our school nurses will be doing the vision, hearing, height, weight, and postural screenings beginning this month. If you do not want your child to participate in screenings please send an email to the school nurses (jrcosta@methuen.k12.ma.us Snryan@methuen.k12.ma.us. by January 31, 2025.

Our ELE students are working hard to complete their state ACCESS testing. These hard working mulit-lingual students have shown great effort and determination. We appreciate their efforts!

Atending school regularly is vital to academic success, and overall student achievement. Please watch these important videos about the impact of chronic absenteeism.

If a student is experiencing any personal difficulty at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details and that is OK. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please email the teacher with the subject “Handle with Care.” Nothing else will need to be said or asked, unless you want to share. This will let the teacher know that your child may need extra time,

patience or care during the day.

We are so excited to offer our ONLINE CGS Student Spirit store! Students and STAFF can show their pride for CGS in whatever style they choose! We will continue to have CGS “We are proud WEDNESDAY.” Each Wednesday CGS staff and students are welcomed to show their spirit in blue and white or CGS apparel. Funds raised will help support our positive school culture.
