Principal's Message
Dear Cavalier Families,
Two more weeks until the end of the semester! Students and Parents, on Wednesday, December 11 starting at 5:00 pm, we will have our first Literacy Night in the Library! Come and participate in crafts, have some snacks, and bring home a free book! We will also celebrate those students who have made significant progress in their reading levels. The whole family is invited, please stop by between 5:00 - 6:30 pm! Entrance will be through the gate near the library.
On another note, this may be the last week that teachers will accept missing work before the final grade of the semester is recorded on the Report Card. Please take advantage of all of the opportunities for students to raise their grades. As a reminder, students must pass all classes in 7th and 8th grade to be eligible for the promotion ceremony. Please be sure to attend tutoring after school if necessary.
This week's announcements:- Free food distribution on Wednesday at G street gate starting at 4:00 pm until supplies last.
- On Thursday, we will be having lots of visitors! All of the principals from the other schools in our district and even our Superintendent and his Cabinet will be on campus for our quarterly meeting. Please give them a warm welcome if you see them.
- On Thursday night, our orchestra will perform at the Winter Concert at Chula Vista High Performing Arts Center at 6:30 pm.
- Friday at lunch, come out and talk to all the College and Career speakers who will be here in the quad area. We are one of the only middle schools to have a College and Career fair. Participate in the scavenger hunt activity as part of the fair!
Rise up Friday is with the Science Department this Friday. Parents, you may be contacted for a parent conference or to be notified that your student will need to stay after school from 1:30 - 2:15 for extra time with their science teacher.
The last Saturday School of the semester will be held this Saturday from 8: 00 - 12:00 pm. Students must stay all four hours for credit. Please enter at the G street gate at 7:50 am. Make up an unexcused absence, tardies, or just show up to get help on school work.
One of the common themes with students this age is the addiction to digital devices. As winter break approaches, we hope that our families take the time to connect with each other. Every middle school in our district is participating in the "Disconnect to Reconnect Parent Challenge". Please see the flyer below. If you would like to share your memories with your student, please take a photo and tag it with the hashtag "#CVMParentChallenge2024".
- Students, please go to the library as soon as you are aware there is a problem with your iPad. The earlier we know about a problem, the faster we can get to fixing it.
Continuing announcements:
- All students and parents have the unique opportunity to receive individual and family therapy sessions at no cost through the Center of Mindful Relationships. If any student is interested in this, please fill out this form or scan the QR code on the flyer listed below.
- Parents can register their students for Club TC on the school website or through the QR code below. The Club TC office is in Room 215, close to the white G street gate. Those arriving early must enter through the gate. After school dismissal is also through the white G street gate. Once students exit the Auditorium gate at 3:10 pm they are not allowed to enter back for Club TC.
Please feel free to contact myself or Assistant Principal
Mr. Kevin.Willard@sweetwaterschools.org with any questions.
