October Reminders and Events
Happy October! As we embrace the beautiful fall season, I wanted to share some important reminders and exciting events happening this month at Eastwood Elementary.
Halloween Festivities
Halloween Parade
We are excited to celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 31. Just like last year, we will be parading for families and friends outside the building. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and remember to dress for the weather.
Students will begin parading through the school at 9:00 a.m., then walk out the south doors and around the perimeter of the playground. We anticipate being outside around 9:10 a.m. After parading outside, our students will parade inside the school one more time. Our main office doors will be locked until the parade is over. Any wonderful volunteers helping with class activities need to bring id and check-in at the main office.
Thank you for helping everyone to have a fun and safe day.
Halloween Costumes
Please remember the following when deciding on a costume:
- Costumes must be school appropriate.
- Costumes should not interfere with learning.
- Eyes should remain uncovered (no full face masks or eye masks)
- Dress in something that is comfortable to sit in at a desk.
- Wear something that allows for movement in the classroom and hallways and at recess.
- Costumes may not include accessories/props that look like a weapon or could be used as a weapon.
Drop Off and Pickup Reminders
Drop Off
School starts at 8:35 a.m. Please make sure your child is at school between 8:25 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. every day. Students are expected to line up for the 8:35 a.m. bell when they arrive at school.
Note: Supervision is not available until 8:20 a.m.
After School Pickup
Thank you for helping us keep our after school pickup as smooth as possible. Please remember the following:
- Park next to the student walkway in a single file.
- Have student’s name displayed on the window of your car.
- Pull forward until your child arrives at your vehicle. Don’t stop, just keep pulling forward.
- Have students enter your vehicle on the passenger side.
- Do not get out of your vehicle to find your child. School staff will help get your child to the vehicle.
- After your vehicle is loaded, pull out and exit the parking lot.
If you need new or additional Pickup Visor Cards, contact the office. We are happy to create them for you.

PTA Updates
Hello Eastwood Families and Friends!
Our annual Fun Run fundraising campaign is live! You, and your loved ones, can make donations to your child's PTA.
There are 4 ways to donate Fun Run:
1) Share the direct campaign link: https://app.givebacks.gives/eastwoodfallfunrun2024
2) Text to donate: Text- Eastwood to (919) 626-3277 to get Fun Run link
3) Bring a cash donation to school in an envelope with your child's name and their teachers name on it.
4) Scan QR code.
This event is the annual fundraiser for the Eastwood PTA. Students can collect pledges from family, friends, and supporters. Pledges can be made on a per-lap basis (e.g., "I'll pledge $1 per lap completed") or as a flat donation. Our students will have the opportunity to run or walk as many laps as they can in an hour. Many children run about 20, and some will run as many as 40!
The Fun Run is an essential fundraiser for our PTA, and all proceeds will support our PTA programs and events. By participating in the Fun Run, you are helping to provide valuable resources and opportunities for our students and teachers.
We can't do it alone. We need your support to reach our fundraising goal of $10,000. We're hoping each student can gather five supporters each. Let's band together to make this fundraiser a soaring success!
Join us on Wednesday, October 16 for fun and excitement as we celebrate our school community and raise funds for our PTA. Send your kiddo in costume on the big day for some extra big fun! The Fun Run is a family-friendly event that welcomes students, parents, teachers, and community members to participate.
Don't miss this exciting event and the chance to support our school community. We hope to see you at the Eastwood Elementary PTA Fun Run on Wednesday, October 16th!
