Iggie Update
October 2023
From the Desk of Principal, Heather Ryan
Dear Parents,
October is the month of the Holy Rosary. It is a great opportunity to introduce young people to the devotion of praying the Rosary. The teachers will help the children learn the importance of praying the Rosary during classroom religion lessons. The children pray the Rosary on Friday mornings at 8:15 AM in the gym. Parents are always welcome to join us!
Halloween parties will take place on Tuesday, October 31. The students may wear festive Halloween clothing, but we will not be dressing up in costumes. The teachers will be having some festivities in their classrooms. Please read through the teacher’s newsletters to get the details.
Parent-teacher conferences will be held from Tuesday, October 10 through Thursday, October 12 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. The conferences will be in the students’ classrooms to provide privacy and time to observe your child’s work area. The teachers will be coordinating parent/teacher conferences, so that it is more convenient for you. A form with your designated time will be coming home soon.
Our second Annual Fun Run/Walk took place this Wednesday, September 27. It was a great turn out and a very successful event! I want to thank Heather Kowalski for chairing this event and putting everything together. The students and staff truly enjoy this new event and sharing a fun afternoon together! Please note that this has replaced our annual Apple Pie Sale. Your time with your families on the weekends is irreplaceable and with the significat increase in the cost of groceries it has made it difficult to continue.
Mark your calendars! Harbor Nights 2024 is scheduled for April 20. We had a very successful year last year and are looking forward to another wonderful evening of entertainment and support for Catholic education.
Please know that we lift our students in prayer each day and are confident that God blesses each one of them as they pass through our doors.
God bless,
Mrs. Ryan

🍽️ Lunchtime News
We are in need of parent volunteers to assist during the student lunch hour. Lunchtime duty is from 11:00 AM to 12:05 PM. A calendar for lunch duty volunteers is displayed on the front counter in the school office. All families are asked to work at least three lunches. Thank you and God bless you for volunteering!
All parents are encouraged to fill out a free and reduced lunch form at the beginning of the school year or throughout the course of the year if their financial status changes. This information is kept strictly confidential.
🗒️ After-School Care Sign Up
At the beginning of the school year, aftercare families were emailed a link to SignUp.com that is now required to sign up their students for aftercare. This will allow us to plan according and be sure that we are not over our licensing limit. Aftercare will be offered as a "first come, first serve" basis by signing up through SignUp.com.
Once we have reached our ten student maximum, there will be no additional spots available that day. Please begin using this program immediately if you have not already done so.

Athletic Director Needed
We are very grateful for the 20+ years Mrs. Ceil Dembny has been in this position and would love to start training someone for next school year. If you are intested in this position, please call the school office at 734-3443.
💻 RenWeb’s Parents Web
The ability to monitor your child’s grades, attendance, assignment information, and calendar of events, can be securely viewed from your internet browser at home. We are providing this access through our RenWeb’s Parents Web feature.
This secured access requires an internet connection and a confidential username and password. After you log into RenWeb you will be able to set-up your own username and password. A letter on how to access your child’s grades for all new families was included in your handbook. Usernames and passwords for all returning families are the same as last year. If you are unable to access your child’s grades, please contact the school office.
🖨️ Ink Cartridge Recycling Program
Did you know that St. Ignatius School benefits from recycling your used ink and toner cartridges? If you or your place of work has empty or old cartridges, please send them to the school. We have collection boxes in the school office and church entry way. Cash from this program allows us to purchase ink for our classroom and office printers.
Thank you!
News from the PTG
The Parent Teacher Guild will be having their monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 10 at 6:30 PM in the school library. All parents are invited to attend. I also want to invite all of you to participate in the PTG annual fundraisers that are held throughout the year.
The PTG is budgeted to give $6,000.00 annually to the school’s general fund, which helps pay for the heat and electric bills during the winter months. The PTG purchases technology equipment and textbooks for our classrooms, special treats for the students and teachers, and funds our bi-annual school carnival in the spring. Your participation is vital to their success.
Operation Christmas Child
For many years St. Ignatius students have sent hundreds of shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies, candy, and other gifts to poor, sick, and suffering children in our world. We are asking the students to once again participate in this life-changing project. Students are asked to pack a shoe box for either a girl or a boy. Some suggested gifts might be: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, pens, pencils, crayons, and toothbrushes. Toothpaste and hard candy are no longer acceptable items due to border restrictions.
School supplies are still on sale in the stores, so it is a good time to purchase items for your shoe box. This year there is a shortage of the red and green boxes, please start saving our shoe boxes from home to use later in the year for OCC. Included with the box should be a check for $10.00 payable to Samaritan’s Purse to help cover shipping. A pamphlet with more information will be sent home in your child’s folder in the upcoming weeks.
Box Tops for Education
The Box Tops for Education program has changed the way we can earn cash for our school! Participating brands have changed their packaging from the traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Tops label. Instead of clipping from packages and checking expiration dates, all Box Tops will be earned digitally by scanning your receipt.
The Box Tops for Education team has worked hard to build a NEW-and-improved, user-friendly Box Tops mobile app available now. The new app features state-of-the-art technology that allows you to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to our school's earnings online. Thanks for helping our school get what it needs! Learn more about these new changes at BTFE.com. Thanks to the Box Tops for Education program, we have earned over $11,000 for our beloved Catholic school.
