Who Wants Pie...Tomorrow?
Want a piece of apple, pumpkin, cherry or pecan pie? If so, participate in the "Harvest Hunt", a Thanksgiving themed scavenger hunt, during your lunch period on Tuesday, November 26th. Stop by the Student Activities Office in the mezzanine to pick up a game card. Students who take selfies with all six items on their game card will get a sweet slice of pie (while supplies last).
YOU Can Save Three Lives!
Save three lives by donating blood during Student Council's annual Blood Drive. You must be at least 16 years old to donate. Check out the details below.
- When: Friday, December 6th during periods 1-9
- Where: Little Theatre
- Registration Required: CLICK HERE to register.
Important FYIs:
- You may pick any time except during your lunch period
- You must bring an ID (school, driver's license, etc.)
- If you are 17 or older, you DO NOT need a parent permission form!
- If you are 16 years old, a parent permission form is required. Stop by room 152A for a form.
Food & Toy Drive Continues
Food items in high need include canned corn, sweet potatoes, and green beans and tomato & chicken noodle soup.
Important Yearbook Photo Information
Underclassmen Photo Info:
Freshmen, sophomore, and junior pictures will take place on TODAY & TOMORROW during P.E. AND after school until 3:15pm (in the Field House). You can order your photos online through hrimaging.com, call 1-815-433-1766, or pick up an order form in the cafeteria. Note: Leyden does not collect your money or take your order.
Senior Photo Info:
Senior photos will take place Monday, January 13th and Tuesday, January 14th during English AND after school until 3:10pm (in the mezzanine). Pre-order forms will be available in advisory, the cafeteria, and student services from January 7th-10th. You can also order online at hrimaging.com or call 1-815-433-1766.
Submitting Photos
You can submit photos from sports, clubs, and other school activities. In the event you miss the photo days at Leyden, you can also submit a selfie of yourself. Use the instructions below.
Chess Team Takes on Lyons Township
Last Tuesday, November 19th, the Leyden Chess Team traveled to Lyons Township High School for a Chess Match. It was a very intense match, with boards one and two (Nick Velazquez and Jonathan Velazquez) going over one hour in their respective matches. Despite everyone's effort, the team was ultimately defeated in favor of Lyons Township.
AAAG Visits Mitsuwa Marketplace
On November 6th, the Asian American Affinity Group (AAAG) visited Mitsuwa Marketplace in Arlington Heights. Mitsuwa Marketplace is a Japanese supermarket chain that sells groceries, cosmetics, appliances, and other imported goods. It also has restaurants, a food court, shops, and other amenities. Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade
Taking place on Thursday, November 28th, the parade includes marching bands, ginormous helium balloons, decorated floats, and music. The parade begins at 8am and proceeds along State Street. Admission is free. LINK
Lincoln Park ZooLights
Head to the Lincoln Park Zoo beginning Friday, November 29th and marvel at fascinating 3-D displays, watch master ice-carving, and enjoy hands-on festive craft-making. ZooLights runs from 4:30pm - 9pm. Admission is free on most nights. LINK
Ice Skating at Maggie Daley Ribbon
A unique skating experience awaits you at Maggie Daley Park. Enjoy skating on a ribbon with the city skyline in view. You can bring your own ice skates or rent some for a small fee. Admission prices vary depending on the date. LINK
