St Elizabeth's News
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 5 | 17 May 2024
Good afternoon parents and caregivers,
I hope everyone has had a lovely week, enjoying the final few weeks of this glorious autumn weather. Thank you to everyone for checking on me this week as I recover from a very nasty flu, I am certainly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.
This week we celebrated our wonderful Education Assistants with Education Assistant's Appreciation Day. It was a special occasion at our school, where our dedicated assistants were treated to a beautiful morning tea provided by the teaching staff. The morning was made even more delightful with hot coffee served by Warren, our coffee man. It was a small gesture to show our immense gratitude for the hard work, dedication, and support our Education Assistant's provide every day. They play a crucial role in our school community, and we are truly grateful for everything they do.
Due to the increasing demand of Catholic Education and increasing enrolment applications for our school, we will begin the transition process to move to a double-stream primary school. In 2025 an additional Kindergarten class will be operating for three days and positions for this class are filling very quickly. If you know of any families who are wanting to join a wonderful school community, please get them to book a tour with Mrs Didlock!
Just a reminder that as we enter the flu season, if your child is unwell, please keep them home until they are well enough for school and complete the online Absentee Form. Unfortunately, Covid-19 is still in our school community and continues to impact us all in some way.
Finally, please keep our Year Six students and their families in your prayers and thoughts as they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend.
Have a lovely weekend!
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal
Strategic Direction Update
One of our bold goals from our Strategic Direction Plan that we have been focussing on is ensuring we are a calm, orderly and engaging place to teach and learn. This week, after reviewing the Student Code of Conduct, we introduced to the students from Kindergarten to Year Six, the first two steps towards achieving our bold goal. Firstly, a set of School Expectations that are visible across all areas of the school. These are simple expectations based on the value of RESPECT. The second part is introducing a Behaviour Support Matrix that clearly outlines the consequences of unacceptable behaviour at school. Below are copies of the visuals that are displayed in each classroom and learning area.

Kindy Incursion
The incursion for our Kindergarten students was an enchanting experience, captivating young minds with the retelling of the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Through interactive storytelling, the children were engaged in the narrative, immersing themselves in the adventures of Goldilocks as she explored the bears' home. This experience not only sparked their imagination but also instilled valuable lessons about respect, curiosity, and consequences. The interactive nature of the incursion allowed the children to actively participate, making learning fun and memorable.
Sacramental of Confirmation
On Friday, our Year Six students joined St Anthony's and the catechist community for their Confirmation Retreat Day. The students enjoyed a faith-based day run by 24:7 Ministry and were treated to a special lunch (chicken and chips) provided by the parish.
Our Year Six students will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation this weekend and we wish them all the best for their special day. By receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation we are strengthened by the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands, affirming our faith and commitment to the Catholic Church.

Walk Safely to School Day
For the second year running, St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary School participated in the Walk Safely to School Day on Friday 10th May as part of the Your Move Program. WSTSD is an annual campaign and event which encourages all primary school children, their parents and carers, to walk safely and regularly to school. It was a busy week for families and the weather was predicted to not be so pleasant, but we were so happy to see so many students and families making the effort to walk to school. The Year Six students who took a survey on the day recorded 118 students chose to take an active mode of transport to school deciding to walk, park & walk, bike or scooter. We wish to thank the City of Wanneroo for sponsoring the event, IGA Woodvale for supplying the food and donating the fruit. We were delighted to have Cr Jordan Wright join us for our special breakfast and hand out stickers. We also wish to thank the school staff and Year 6 student volunteers for their support and help.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to WSTSD in 2025!
