Items can be purchased online and picked up at the west security office on school days from 7:30-3:30. All orders are usually ready for pick up within 48 hours. Be sure to check back often as additional sizes and new apparel are coming soon.

Peer tutoring is available on Wednesdays in the Learning Commons after school! Math peer tutors will be available from 2:30-3:30. You can get support for math homework- bring your questions or assignments to work on with a peer tutor and/or small group.

Erin Walsh and Digital Well-Being on Saturday, November 12
Erin Walsh of Mind Positive Parenting will speak about kids and screen time on Saturday, November 12, 9:30-11 a.m., at Eastview High School. The program is part of the district’s year-long Digital Well-Being campaign. Attendance is free and encouraged, but registration is required.

The Patrick Schoonover Heart Foundation presents the first Play For Patrick Youth Heart Screen for the 22-23 School year on Saturday, October 29th from 8-3 at Eastview High School Gym. This will be the 8th Heart Screen at Eastview.

The screen is FREE & OPEN TO ALL KIDS 14-24 and includes Family Health History, Height/Weight, Blood Pressure, EKG, Echocardiogram and learning how to perform CPR & use an AED. The Mayo Clinic’s AI research team will assist in screening for HCM and other heart defects.

Parents are encouraged to attend the screen with your child, as you will be there to support your child, know about your child’s health, learn how to perform hands-only CPR and use an AED.

November 14, 2014 Patrick Schoonover and his Eastview teammates were playing in the Blue Ox Bantam AA Hockey Tournament in Brainerd, MN. Patrick scored the game’s first goal and collapsed moments later on the ice. First responders were unable to revive him. It was later determined Patrick had numerous heart defects that caused his early death.

The Eastview Community Foundation has openings on our Board of Directors! We are looking for people with interest and experience in:

• Fundraising

Our mission is to provide resources that open doors to educational and personal growth opportunities for all K-12 students at the 13 schools in the Eastview attendance area. This is a GREAT way to give back, engage in our community, and support students and staff at the schools here in our community! For the entire month of October, students can apply for FREE to one or more of the 26 state colleges and seven state universities of Minnesota State.

It’s a great way for you to save some money and get started on the journey to your dream career!

Free financial aid events are available to Minnesota students and families via Zoom. The series, running on Tuesday evenings, September 27 through October 25, is intended for current high school students and families. The sessions will cover general information about the college application and financial aid process, details on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Minnesota Dream Act for undocumented students, and other ways to pay for college.

All sessions will have interpretation in Spanish, Somali, and Hmong. Attendees can ask questions in the chat and have them answered during the event by financial aid experts. Students who attend any of the sessions will be entered into a drawing to win a $500 scholarship (one entry per session attended).

Space is limited so register soon! These sessions are offered by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, Minnesota Department of Education, ECMC The College Place and Minnesota Goes to College.

New Scholarship opportunity! 150 offered nation wide!

Each year, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 150 college scholarships worth $20,000 to high school students across the United States through the Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Students need a 3.0 GPA and to fill out an online application that requires no essays, no recommendations, and no transcripts by October 31, 2022, at 5 p.m. Eastern.

*Students are encouraged to register in Naviance and pick up a pass in the Counseling Office prior to the event.

Sunday night proved to be quite the exciting night at the State Soccer Coaches Association State Banquet for members of the Eastview Soccer teams!

Girls Soccer- Senior Sienna Latta was named first team All-State!

Boys Soccer- Senior Nick Karam was named first team All-State, Senior Asher Ozuzu was named Class AAA Mr. Soccer as the top boys soccer player in the entire state and Assistant Coach Alex Currie was named the Assistant Coach of the Year for the entire State in Class AAA! In addition, it was the final official “duty” for retiring Head Coach Scott Gustafson!

Congrats to all of our coaches and athletes who competed at the Section 3AAA Meet yesterday at Valleywood and here are the exciting results!

Boys Cross Country- Placed 6th as a team and sophomore Ben Buckley placed 12th overall and is STATEBOUND as an individual qualifier! The State Meet for AAA Boys is at St. Olaf College on Saturday, November 5th at 10:30 a.m. Boys Coaches are Tom Sharp, Cory Fusco and Jarred Sampson.

Girls Cross Country- For the first time since 2015 the Girls CC team was the Section Champions and for the second year in a row are STATEBOUND as a team! The team ran an incredibly strong team race placing all 5 scoring individuals in the top 11 overall and placed 6 runners in the top 14! The Lightning were led today by their only senior, Sonja Olson, who placed 6th individually and was closely followed by her underclassmen teammates Hadley Knight, Gracie Puit, Emily Percival, Kienna Loberg, Grace Chambers and Natalie Wees! Alternates are Lidia Dahlman and Eva Zimmerman. Coaches are Jorjean Fischer, Derek Schlager, Katie Wagner and Jenny Hugstad-Vaa. The State Meet for AAA Girls is at St. Olaf College on Saturday, November 5th at 9:30 a.m.

Any 9th grade boys that are interested in trying out for the basketball team, there will be an informational meeting at 7:10 or 2:35 on Thursday 11/3 in room C250. This meeting is only for 9th grade boys interested in trying out for the EVHS basketball team. If you have any questions please reach out to Coach Flemmons in A208 or Coach Currie in C238.

Eastview Sideline Cheer has spots open for the 2022-2023 Basketball Cheer season.

Join the District 196 Icettes Figure Skating Team! Informational, pre-tryout and season kick-off meeting on Tuesday, November 1st at 7:30pm at the Eastview High School lecture room C250. Attention all Fall Sport Student-Athletes and parents of all Fall Student-Athletes: Many of our Fall sports have concluded their seasons and all of our Fall sports will be wrapping up in the coming weeks. As of 2019, the NCAA process now allows signings for most sports on almost any day of the year. As a result of the greatly expanded dates as well as wanting to celebrate all of our college participants we will hold one large-scale signing opportunity on the evening of May 21st that recognizes all of our athletes who will be continuing on to compete in athletics at the collegiate level regardless of division or receipt of athletic aid. In the past we only recognized official NLI signings which excluded many of our athletes competing at the Division III level and this allows us to celebrate all of our Senior Athletes in one ceremony. Individual athletes and/or their Eastview team are encouraged to celebrate all collegiate signings in their own ways, but we will hold our school-wide signing ceremony at our Spring Senior Athlete Celebration in May along with our all-school athletic department award winners.

MENS VOLLEYBALL

The Eastview Men’s Volleyball program has started off-season open gyms for guys who are planning on playing next spring, or guys who are thinking about it and want to learn more. Asian Student Association will meet in B226 on October 28th 2:35 – 5:30 pm.

The National Art Honor Society will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, November 2 at 2:35 in room B126. New members are welcome! Come create and hang out with like minded individuals.

French club will be meeting on Thurs, Nov 3rd after school in B220 from 2:40-3:30. It’s the start of National French Week so we will be doing a Francophone Culture Trivia Contest. There will be prizes for trivia winners.

FIRST Robotics will have a sign up and information meeting after school (2:40 pm) on Tuesday, November 15th in room B329. There will be snacks and treats, and a presentation by student leaders.
