Superintendent's Message
Dear Bourne Public Schools Families,
As the season of gratitude approaches, I want to wish each of you a joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving. I am incredibly thankful to be part of the Bourne Public Schools community.
November has been filled with moments that highlight the strength and spirit of our district. Earlier this month, we honored our Veterans with heartfelt ceremonies across all our schools, reminding us of the importance of service and sacrifice. We also came together at the Bourne Community Resource Fair and Cultural Celebration, a truly inspiring event that showcased the diversity, talent, and unity within our community. Be sure to check out the pictures and videos from this incredible day!
As we turn to December, we have much to look forward to, including a variety of concerts, theatrical performances, and community events that highlight the artistic and creative spirit of our students. These moments are a wonderful way to come together and celebrate the season.
Finally, I want to extend a huge congratulations to our Division 5 State Champion Volleyball Team! Your hard work, teamwork, and determination have made our entire community proud.
Thank you for being part of the Bourne Public Schools family.
I hope this Thanksgiving brings you time to reflect, recharge, and connect with your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Dr. Zhou
Salute to Our Veterans
This month, Bourne Public Schools proudly honored our Veterans through meaningful events and activities across the district. At Bourne High School, the History Club hosted a special luncheon, bringing together local Veterans, current service members, military families, BMS students, and BHS students for an afternoon of connection and gratitude. The luncheon was followed by a powerful full-school assembly featuring music from the BHS Chorus and inspiring keynote addresses by State Representative Steven Xiarhos and Admiral Richard Gurnon. You can view the entire program and moving speeches at this link on Bourne TV Bourne TV Video. Extra thanks to teachers Nora Center, Steven McCarthy and Lisa Fornier for organizing and preparing for the event.
Our 8th-grade Civics students and BIS students demonstrated their appreciation by lining the campus with American flags, creating a moving tribute to those who have served. Over the holiday weekend, BPS students and staff extended their appreciation by volunteering at the National Cemetery in Bourne, placing flags at the graves of our Veterans in a solemn act of remembrance. At Bournedale, students wrote heartfelt cards and letters to Veterans and watched a Slide Show honoring family members and friends who have served. These events reflected our district’s deep respect for our Veterans and the enduring lessons of service, sacrifice, and community.

BPS Community Resource Fair and Cultural Celebration
On November 7th, Bourne Public Schools hosted the vibrant and engaging Community Resource Fair and Cultural Celebration, a day filled with music, community connections, and celebration. Students across the district enjoyed an energetic assembly with the Grammy-nominated Alex Torres and his Latin Orchestra, where they danced, played percussion instruments, and experienced the joy of Latin music. A special highlight was the collaboration between BMS band students and the professional musicians, culminating in a memorable evening concert. During the public performance, our talented students joined the band onstage for an exciting rendition of La Bamba, bringing the audience to their feet and filling the aisles with dancing.
The day also featured over 40 tables of community organizations and school staff, connecting families with resources and opportunities to get involved. Thanks to the Bourne Rotary for providing a delicious free hot dog dinner, and a special thanks to Lisa Dix and Jessee Clements for their outstanding organization of these events. We also extend our gratitude to the Nye Foundation for partially funding this incredible experience for our students. The day was a true celebration of music, culture, and community!
