Shoreham Elementary School
"You Belong Here"
Principal's Update
September 6, 2024
Hello SES Community,
We have had a wonderful return to school and a great end to our second full week. This week, I had the pleasure of reading the book, I Promise, by Lebron James and Illustrated by Nina Mata in every classroom in our school community. After listening to the story our students were tasked with writing or drawing what their Promise is to help our school community be the best school community ever! It was amazing to see and hear their responses to the writing prompt and how they hope to create a caring learning environment for all. I can't wait to share some of these with you next week.
Please mark your calendar for September 18th for my first Shoreham Elementary School Community Coffee from 8-9am. I plan to make this a monthly gathering and look forward to meeting and getting to know you.
Read below for important school updates including an update from the Library and our Special Education & Intervention team.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Best,
Mrs. Sells

Our Special Education & Intervention Team!
Welcome to the new school year! It is wonderful to see the returning students and meet our new ones. Students bring such energy and purpose to the school! Additionally, we are excited to work with our SES community members. Due to the many changes over the summer, we wanted to introduce ourselves and say hello.
Our team meets weekly to review and use data to respond to student needs. The Fall Screening Window is opening soon, and all students will participate in brief universal screeners in literacy and mathematics. With this information and other assessment data, we collaborate with teachers and Principal Whitmore-Sells to ensure our students grow as learners at Shoreham Elementary.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to support your children and value your perspectives.
We look forward to working with you to ensure a great year.
All the best,
Lisa St. Germain, lstgermain@acsdvt.org
Martha Santa Maria, msantamaria@acsdvt.org

Hello from the Library!
Welcome back to another school year!
We are excited to be offering library class once a week to Shoreham students. Library class will be on Fridays this year.
Our library looks different this year! It has moved from its previous location into one of the central classrooms. Students will be bringing home borrowed books from the library soon.
When your child brings home books, please help them remember to bring their books back every week. You can tell a library book because it will have May Small Media Center/Shoreham Elementary School stamped in the front.
All students can borrow up to 3 books every library class.
If a student forgets to bring back their books (or are still reading them) they may be allowed to borrow up to 5 books total. Books can be borrowed for one week. Students should return their books to the library on the day they have library class.
Sometimes, students may take home other giveaway books. Giveaways always go home with a note telling you you can keep them. If you want to return giveaway books, that’s also fine.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Feel free to send me an email at aadams@acsdvt.org

Free Breakfast and Lunch at School
We're pleased to announce that school breakfast and lunches are still free for all students!
- This means your student can receive breakfast every day and lunch without filling out an application form.
- Please note: students get one milk with each meal, but if they take milk alone (not as part of a meal) or take a second milk, they will be charged $0.60.
- We still ask families to fill out this Household Income Data Form. Filling out this form is not mandatory but it helps us qualify for over $475,000 which assists our schools with nutrition, literacy, math, science and other vital programming.
See what's for breakfast and lunch on the menu button below:
