Rusty Rogers has been nominated for America's Favorite Teacher! One outstanding teacher will win $25,000, a feature in Reader's Digest, a trip to Hawaii, and a school assembly with Bill Nye!

Wilkinson Middle School 8th grader Krystal Butler Brown showcased her exceptional skills in a highly competitive field, finishing in the top 10% out of 80 students. Her outstanding performance earned her a tie for 5th place, demonstrating her dedication and talent. Congratulations, Krystal, on this remarkable achievement!

The Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars’ 12th Annual Celebration Luncheon took place on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at University of Detroit Mercy. Our Class of 2025 seniors in the Next Level Scholars Program celebrated 3 successful years participating in the program and joined 135 seniors across our 16 partner high schools.

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women throughout history and in our communities today. The theme for Women's History Month in 2025 is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations”. This theme recognizes the impact of women who have dedicated their lives to leadership, education, and mentorship.

Irish American Heritage Month is celebrated in March to honor the contributions of Irish Americans to the United States. The month also takes place around St. Patrick's Day.

Ramadan is considered one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims. It is a month of intense spiritual rejuvenation with a heightened focus on devotion, during which Muslims spend extra time reading the Qur’an and performing special prayers. In the United States, Ramadan will likely begin on the evening of February 28, 2025, with the first fast observed on March 1, 2025.

Lake Hillier is located on Middle Island, off the coast of Western Australia. The reason for its unique color is still a topic that is not fully understood by scientists, although most suspect it has to do with the presence of the Dunaliella salina microalgae. The Dunaliella produces carotenoids, a pigment found in carrots as well. But the presence of halophilic bacteria in the salt crusts could be another explanation. A reaction between the salt and the sodium bicarbonate that is found in the water may cause it as well.
