Clover Bar Parent Council Meeting
We have our next Parent Council meeting on Tuesday, October 15 at 6pm in the Clover Bar Library. We hope to see you there!
Grade 9 - Take our Kids to Work!
One of the school goals at Clover Bar is "Intentional focus on supporting students to develop and recognize how their student learning is building transferrable skills that will benefit their life outside of school." This happens in a variety of ways in every class with daily work, assessments, working with others, and the hands on skills they learn. It also includes having strong transition plans for our students that we communicate the why and how with them on, clear expectations on attendance, encouraging self-advocacy through student voice, and teaching and promoting regulation strategies.
For our grade 9's specifically, we expose students to the 'World of Work' with the 'Take Your Kid to Work Day' initiative on November 6. Now is a great time to start thinking about placements for your grade 9 student. We will be sending a Permission Click soon.
Traffic Flow Feedback and Update
As shared earlier, we have made some changes in collaboration with EIPS Transportation and Strathcona County. The map below indicates new staff and visitor parking locations, as well as where families can access to drop students off.
A few pieces of feedback that we have received:
1. Please do not use the Disabled parking stalls to stop and drop students off. We have a number of families and visitors that use those stalls with their identified placards.
2. It is probably easiest to drop students off directly on Main Boulevard in front of the school. The other option if you are pulling into the parking lot is to loop to the back.
3. A reminder that vehicles are not permitted in the front bus loop, especially during the hustle and bustle of morning drop off and after school.
We thank you for your support and understanding!
Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences
Clover Bar's Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! They will be held on Wednesday, November 6 and Thursday November 7 from 4pm to 8pm in the Clover Bar gym. We will have sign up information in our next newsletter.
School Fees are Active
The school fees for the 2024-25 school year for Clover Bar are now posted and active.
Wondering when and how to pay for school fees? School fee information for the 2024-25 school year will be posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal in late September. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. NOTE: Additional fees may be added throughout the year—for example, at the beginning of each semester, as your child takes part in various activities, or they may be adjusted by changes in selected optional courses in junior and senior high school. If you’re unable to pay your school fees, you can apply to have certain fees waived. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2024.
For more information, visit the https://www.cloverbar.ca/about/fees on the school website. Alternatively, contact Mrs. Lynette McElheran, Business Secretary at Clover Bar Junior High at 780-467-2295 or lynette.mcelheran@eips.ca.
Did you know? ReSet Space!
Did you know that Clover Bar has a ReSet space that we have set up in our Library? With the funding for ReSet rooms not continuing, EIPS was not able to continue the pilot project. The Clover Bar school community definitely saw value in a ReSet space for our students to access to support mental health and regulation strategies.
Students are able to ask their teacher to go to the ReSet space, where they have access to a safe space to ReSet and regulate so that they can return to class and be ready to learn. This also decreases disruptions within the classroom. Most students are in there for 10 minutes or less and report that they are feeling better as they return to class.

EIPS is committed to a productive and collaborative relationship with parents and caregivers. As such, the Division has a Committee of School Councils (COSC) comprised of representatives from school councils across EIPS. From October to May, COSC members meet monthly with the Board of Trustees and senior EIPS administration to discuss educational issues and trends, while sharing valuable information with one another to best enhance student success. In recognition of the effort and dedication of EIPS families and staff in engaging with their school communities, the Division was honoured to receive the Division School Council Engagement Award from the Alberta School Councils’ Association last April.
