SMS UPDATE
News, Updates, and Information about SMS
Welcome to the Shelbyville Middle School ListServ. We will periodically send out emails to inform you of upcoming events, and/or exciting events that have already taken place. Please contact us if you have any questions throughout the school year.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Next week, May 5th-9th is Teacher Appreciation week! We want to thank all of our staff members for all of their hard work and dedication to SMS! We would love to have everyone reach out to a staff member and let them know how much we appreciate all that they do!
2024-2025 Athletics
If your child plans to participate in athletics at SMS next year, they will need a physical before they can participate. All paperwork must be done through Final Forms. Attached is information on how to register your child.
Outside Drinks
As we enter the last few weeks of the school year, we would like to remind everyone that any outside drink, with the exception of water cannot be brought into classrooms. Drinks such as Starbucks, energy drinks, etc should be consumed before the 8:30 bell or at lunch. We continue to encourage our students to bring a water bottle to drink throughout the day.
Lost and Found
Lost something? A sweatshirt, water bottle, lunchbox or something else. Make sure to check the lost and found at the end of the choir/enginerring tech hallway. Anything not claimed by the last day of school will be donated. Don't wait too long to look!
Nutrislice
Below is a link to a video that shows how to download the Nutrislice app to your phone. The Nutrislice app allows you to view the weekly/daily cafeteria menus as well as view nutritional information.
We are excited to inform you that our school has enrolled with STOPit!
STOPit is an online reporting tool designed to deter and mitigate bullying, cyber abuse, and other inappropriate behaviors, consisting of an app and a back-end incident management system for school administrators.
Our students will have access to the STOPit mobile app, which has two simple but powerful features.
Report can be used by students to report incidents to school contacts anonymously.
Messenger can be used to engage in anonymous two-way communication with school contacts.
Both Report and Messenger empower students to stand up for themselves and for one another. Students have the power to help put an end to harmful and inappropriate behavior they see online through social media and other means. They can use STOPit to reach out for help if they or a peer are facing a personal crisis or experiencing bullying, abuse, or are otherwise in need of assistance. Our goal with STOPit is to create safer, kinder, school communities both online and off.
No student information is needed to use STOPit. The only way personally identifiable information will be accessible through STOPit is if a student voluntarily includes it within the content of a report or message.
More information and resources can be found online at https://scs.shelbycs.org/apps/pages/stopit
