UPDATED STCS POLICY-EXCESSIVE TARDINESS/EARLY DISMISSALS EFFECTIVE MONDAY, 10/28
Please see our updated policy regarding Excessive Tardiness and Early Dismissals. This is updated in the Parent Handbook and will be available on the school website.
Excessive Tardiness/Early Dismissals
Tardiness and early dismissals seriously affect school performance and disrupt those students already engaged in learning. School begins at 7:50 a.m. and school ends at 3:20 pm. Students need to be in class at least 10-15 minutes before the start of the school day to be prepared for the day to begin. Students who are tardy or leave early start or end their day early behind, frustrated, and trying to catch up. Students must be in their classroom when the bell rings. In addition, accreditation depends on adhering to a "Bell to Bell" schedule and requires a specific number of minutes per day for instruction and course credit.
The following policy is in place to address excessive tardiness or early dismissals:
If a student has been tardy 3 times, excused or unexcused, within a semester, a message will be sent home reminding the parents/guardians of the importance of being on time for school and classes.
5 unexcused tardies equal 1 day of absence per 9-week quarter.
5 unexcused early dismissals equal 1 day of absence per 9-week quarter.
In order for a tardy to be excused, a doctor’s note must be presented to the front school office and/or the homeroom teacher.
If a student continues to be tardy additional consequences may be put in place at the discretion of the school administration.
This policy will go into effect on Monday, October 28, 2024. Thank you for your continued support!
