November 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support of our school. It is because of your dedication and commitment that we are able to create such a positive and nurturing learning environment for our students.
Your children are truly a blessing, and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with them each day. I am so impressed by their enthusiasm, intelligence, and kindness. They are a testament to the wonderful families they come from.
I would also like to extend a special thank you to our dedicated faculty and staff. Their passion for teaching and their unwavering commitment to our students are truly inspiring. They work tirelessly to ensure that our children receive the best possible education.
As we gather with our loved ones this Thanksgiving, let us take a moment to reflect on all that we are grateful for. I am truly thankful for our school community and the incredible people who make it so special.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Mr. Zesiger

Veterans Day
We are excited to announce that the students at East Elementary School will be participating in a special Veterans Day program. As part of this event, we invite everyone to nominate a past or current service member for our "Wall of Heroes," which will be prominently displayed in the school lobby. A "Wall of Heroes" nomination form was sent home a few weeks ago. Please return the completed form by Monday, November 4th. If you need another form, feel free to contact our school office at 330-364-7114.
The “Wall of Heroes” will be displayed from November 4 to November 26, allowing the entire school community to honor and appreciate the heroes in our lives. All forms will be returned to the students after the Thanksgiving break.
Attention all veterans! If you're interested in reading a story to your child’s classroom, please contact your child's teacher to schedule a visit. Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity to connect with the next generation.
*Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue for our Veterans Day assembly.
*Please note that the Veterans Day program is for students only.

Fall Weather
Jacket time is here!
As we move into November, the weather is quickly changing. Please be sure to consider the weather when dressing your child for school. We are experiencing cool mornings when jackets and sweaters are needed. Additionally, we will have outside recess any day the temperature/wind chill is above 20 degrees and it is dry.
Lost & Found
If your child has lost their hat, lunchbox, coat, or water bottle, there is a good chance it may be in the school's Lost and Found. All found items are collected and placed in the Lost and Found bin located in the lobby area. To ensure the speedy return of your child's belongings, please label them. However, if your child has lost something this school year, it's important to check the bin as soon as possible.
Playground
East School’s playground will be CLOSED after school every day until 4:15 due to school buses picking up our students in the back of the building. Thank you for your cooperation!

Birthday Treats
Bringing treats for classmates on your birthday is a common practice in many schools. This practice is voluntary, and participation is optional. Normally treats are brought on the child’s birthday or the day that school is in session close to the child’s birthday. Parents are asked to notify the teacher at least one day prior to bringing treats.
Guidelines for Treats:
- Treats must be store-bought and individually wrapped.
- Students should bring enough treats so that each student in the class and the teacher receives a treat.
- Treats will be distributed as directed by the classroom teacher.
Counselor Resource Bags
Our elementary school counselors are providing a new service for families this school year. Counselor resource bags are available for students and their families to “check out” in times of need, such as the loss of a loved one, family changes, family illness, and the loss of a pet. These bags include social-emotional resources and activities to help students process their grief or big emotions with the support of their family members. Having counselor resource bags available is a strategy to close the gap between home and school in terms of the emotional support of our students. If you have any questions about the counselor resource bags, please contact Mrs. Keck (keckc@dovertornadoes.com).
Change of Transportation
If there are any changes in your child's end-of-the-school day transportation procedures, please be sure to send a note to your child's teacher. If the teacher does not receive a note from you, your child will be sent home using their normal routine. Please do not send transportation changes through email or ClassDojo, as it may not be received in a timely manner. You are encouraged to call the school office with any last-minute changes by 2:30 pm.

East PTG
Be a part of the group!
One of the biggest assets of our school is the PTG. Services such as volunteering time, helping with programs, and providing financial assistance for equipment and activities are vital functions of the PTG and are greatly appreciated by our school community.
The PTG spends money on student incentives and building items for the betterment of the school. We encourage parent involvement with our school and PTG.
