Welcome to our new 4-H Educator, Kerstin!
Kerstin Thoms will join the 4-H team in Nobles & Murray county starting on Tuesday. Kerstin previously worked for Iowa State University Extension & Outreach as a County Youth Coordinator with the 4-H Youth Development program.

Complete Your Records - DUE on Tuesday
Reflect on your project learning this past 4-H year and complete your annual records. All 4-H records will be due to the Extension Office by October 1. All links needed to complete records are available on the Extension website. You must use the record format available on the Extension webpage to be eligible for record awards in 2024. For your reference a judging rubric is also available.
First Ambassador Gathering - October 3
Youth in grades 6-13 are invited to the first ambassador gathering of the year! Ambassadors represent 4-H in a public relations role; promote 4-H with potential members, parents and the general public; help plan and implement 4-H events; organize 4-H promotional activities; and develop personal leadership skills and self-confidence.
The first ambassador event will be Thursday, October 3 at 6:00 pm at the Farmers Room in the government center. We will have pizza and chat about the year. If you are interested in attending this gathering and/or being involved in the ambassador program, please join the Ambassador Group Me. An RSVP for food will be in the Group Me. Thank you to Theresa Steve for leading the ambassador program.
Celebrate National 4-H Week
Annually the first week of October celebrates 4-H. The Minnesota State Ambassadors invite you to participate in their celebrations.
Service Sunday- Complete an act of service or share about an act of service you have completed.
Member Monday- Give a shout out to a 4-H member that rocks and why!
Time Machine Tuesday-Share photos from when you first got involved in 4-H!
Wear it Wednesday-Wear your favorite 4-H shirt!

2024-2025 Club Charters
It is time to think about your 2024-25 club charter. This annual process ensures youth have a chance to lead and the club has a calendar of events planned. All information required for club charters is on the Extension website. All club charters and 2023-2024 treasurer books are due to the office on October 14.
Save the Date: Annual Volunteer Training + Federation Meeting
Be sure to mark Monday, October 21 on your calendars for annual volunteer training and our October Federation meeting. Annual volunteer training will take place from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. The Federation meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. A meal will be provided starting at 5:30 pm. Please RSVP for a food count. These meetings will take place at Minnesota West in Worthington.
Connect with Cloverbuds
Kick off the new year of Cloverbuds with Nobles County 4-H. All youth in grades K-2 are invited to a come-and-go event on October 24 between 5:00 - 6:30 pm at the Nobles County Library. A craft will be available for youth and caregivers can learn more about the 4-H Cloverbud program. Monthly Cloverbud gatherings will begin in November.
Re-Enroll in Nobles County 4-H
Thank you for your involvement in Minnesota 4-H! In order to remain enrolled, you will need to show your family’s intent to participate by logging in to 4-H Online and reviewing, updating and submitting the following information:
Your family's contact and demographic information, including club, school and grade.
Each family member's health and emergency contact information.
Project areas of interest for this coming year.
Parental consent required for youth participating in shooting sports/wildlife programs.
You can log in to 4-H Online here to complete the re-enrollment process. This guide has more information.
Annual 4-H Achievement Banquet
Save the date for January 12, 2025 for the annual 4-H achievement banquet hosted by the Okabena Bees. Award applications will be available in mid-November.
County 4-H Scholarship for College-Bound Youth
All youth in grade 12 or their first year of college are invited to apply for the county 4-H scholarship. Complete the application and letters of recommendation; submit by November 14 via email to Wendy.
State Fair Projects are in the Office
General projects exhibited at the State Fair are now back in the Extension Office. Please stop by to pick up your project and evaluation sheet sometime during business hours (Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm). If you need an alternate time to pick up your project, please email Anna. Projects should be picked up by October 1.

We have a few items that were found at the county fair. Please see the attached image. To claim your item, please email Wendy. Items not claimed by October 31 will be donated.
Sign Up for a Month to Host Cloverbuds
As clubs are working on their 2024-25 plans, please be sure to sign up for a month to host Cloverbuds. It is the expectation that all clubs host a Cloverbud event. Anna will help coordinate the details with each club.

4-H Ag Ed Leader Exchange
Hey Ag Ed Leaders! Ready to dive into Minnesota Agriculture and level up your communication and advocacy skills? You’re invited to the first-ever 4-H Ag Ed Leader Exchange this fall! You’ll explore the world of Minnesota Agriculture from farm to table with exciting tours and stops on the UMN campus and around MSP. Registration is available in 4-H Online.
Details:
When: November 8-9, 2024. Starts at 9:30 a.m. on Nov 8 and wraps up at 4 p.m. on Nov 9.
Where: Based on the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus, but we’ll be heading out for tours and activities in the MSP area! We will be staying at the Country Inn and Suites in Roseville and will have coordinated bus transportation to campus and for our tours.
Who: Open to all youth in grades 7 and up.
Cost: Just $25! *** If you presented in the Ag Ed Leader in the Classroom project last spring/summer, you get to attend for FREE (if you register by Sept 30). After September 30, it will be $25 per participant.
Photo Manipulation Virtual Workshop
Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer a statewide photo manipulation workshop to youth in grades 6-13. Are you interested in learning more about photo manipulation? Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer a three-session photo manipulation workshop featuring guest speakers and tutorials. Virtual workshops will take place on October 7, 24 and November 7 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm via zoom. Registration is open in 4-H Online until October 5. Training for New Club Leaders
Join us for the New Club Leader webinar to learn more about the role of a 4-H Club leader, and be equipped with resources and techniques to develop your 4-H club. This 75-minute online training is open to Minnesota 4-H volunteers, potential volunteers, and youth leaders as part of our statewide volunteer development webinar program. While the content is geared toward new club leaders, anyone providing leadership and support to a 4-H members' experience will benefit from the material.
