October 19th - PJs and Pumpkins 5:30-6:30pm (see below!)

Student Attendance
Excessive Absences
At the end of this month, I will be looking at our attendance reports for students who are at risk for poor school attendance. As a reminder, our attendance policy defines excessive absences as 10 or more in a school year. If your child has 5 or more unexcused absences at this time, you will be receiving a letter asking that you schedule an appointment with me to address any attendance concerns and to brainstorm ways to improve attendance.
Half Day Absences
Half days pose many challenges for families with working parents. I do need to emphasize that we are full steam ahead with curriculum on half days. When your child is absent on a half day, they are missing important classroom instruction that will need to be made up upon their return.
Need Support?
If you are having a difficult time getting your child to school for any reason, we are here to help and want to hear from you. Even at this age, we have school avoidance issues, separation anxiety issues, and more that can impact student attendance. Please don't hesitate to reach out for help with this issue! You can start by either notifying me, the building Principal, at ktrue@dcrsd.org or by talking to our School Adjustment Counselor, Vanessa Muscente at vmuscente@dcrsd.og. Either of us would be happy to provide whatever assistance we can.
