LOHS Staff Appreciation week is May 6-10
The LOHS Parent Group is collecting certain items to be used throughout the week of May 6-10 to help show our appreciation to the LOHS teachers and staff. Our theme for the week is "The Year of the Dragon," which symbolizes strength, wisdom, health and good luck. Some of the fun days we have planned are a staff breakfast to start their day off healthy, a "Fill your Cup" day to give the staff strength, and a "Dragon Trivia" day to bring them good luck.
Please see below for ways that you can help by donating drinks, treats and supplies.

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time, food/drink, supplies or funds in the past! We appreciate your generosity to our wonderful LOHS staff!
SUMMER AI PROGRAMMING
LOCS is excited to partner with INSPIRIT, an organization that delivers in-person Artificial Intelligence (AI) programming and instruction to middle and high school students taught by instructors from Stanford and MIT. This first of its kind opportunity in Michigan is available to Lake Orion students this June. Please see the attached brochure for additional information.
LOCS Is Hiring!
Free Tutoring
Dear LOHS Parents,
Lake Orion High School is extremely excited to announce a continuation of our free tutoring program. This program will allow your child to connect directly with LOHS staff in specific content areas (math, science, social studies, etc.) outside of normal school hours. These tutoring sessions are one hour and can take place either in person or virtually through Microsoft Teams (this is decided between the tutor and the student(s) in the group). This tutoring is intended as remediation as opposed to homework help; however, homework is often utilized to teach skills. As we do not have an inexhaustible number of tutors available, this program is on a first come, first serve basis.
To sign up your child, please fill out this form.
If you have additional questions, please contact Cathy Srock at Catherine.Srock@LOk12.org.
SERVICE HOURS SPOTLIGHT
Service opportunities are emailed to students the first week of each month with the events for that specific month. This list can also be found on the LOHS Service Learning page, at the bottom. This month is listed as “April and May Service Opportunities” Service Learning - Lake Orion Community Schools (lakeorionschools.org)

Distinguished Dragon Submission
Thank you for taking the time to recognize one of Lake Orion Community Schools' staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
