Eye on FISD
March 7, 2025
From Dr. Gilstrap
The spring break is here, and I hope that you get to spend time and relax with family and friends. We will have many opportunities for families to get involved in after the break and leading up to graduation. Check your campus website and social media for more information, especially during testing. We will have a lot to celebrate in the coming weeks. I hope that you can join us.
We will have our first community meeting to share information about the 2025 bond election when we come back from the break—dates, times and locations are listed below. Click here to visit the bond website and find additional information. The last day to register is April 3 and early voting starts on April 22.
Have a safe spring break!

The FISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a hybrid calendar for the 2025-2026 school year on March 3.
Our board members took into account the results from the calendar survey, prioritizing a shorter school week option that would reduce the number of student days and teacher days. The approved calendar is available online: District Calendar

Lions Club helps students see!
Our local Lions Club partnered with FISD to help students in need of eye glasses, covering the expense of an eye exam as well as paying for a pair of eye glasses for a student! The Lions Club is currently working with several of our families to ensure students can see effectively for learning in the classroom! If you have old glasses or frames laying around, consider donating them to the Lions Club to assist more families in the future! Donation boxes are located at Jack's Cafe and Walmart.
H-E-B donates school supplies and books!
A big "Thank You" goes out to our local HEB for their generous donation of school supplies! Our Family Resource Center has been restocked with colored pencils, plastic folders, pencils, pens, journals, highlighters, spiral notebooks, and more! They also provided a huge box of books for our students!
MuChi Pillowcase Project
Representatives from MuChi stopped by Central Office recently to drop off 35 homemade pillowcases that can also be used as drawstring bags. MuChi members wanted to provide our students in foster care something soft to rest their head upon, but that could serve as a bag in the event they needed to pack up their personal items for a placement move! Thank you!

Community of Character Award
Mrs. Carrie Ploch, who has been with Floresville ISD for 12 years and currently serves as the behavior specialist, new teacher mentor, and web master at Floresville Early Childhood Center, was nominated by her Principal, Diana Wagner. Although, Mrs Ploch is pulled in many directions to assist everyone at her campus throughout the day, it was what she did during the holidays for one of our students that really speaks to her character, compassion, and caring nature. Read all about Mrs. Ploch here!
