Jog-A-Thon
On Friday, October 4th, 2019 River Mill Elementary will be holding our 5th Annual Jog-A-Thon near our school grounds on Estacada High School’s track. Students will jog/walk laps for one hour. The students will be asking friends and family members to pledge money to the student for each quarter-mile lap he/she completes during that hour. Flat pledge donations (i.e., donating a fixed amount of money regardless of the number of laps completed) may also be given. The money raised by these efforts will be used to support educational field trips, enrichment activities and the purchasing of special educational materials. Each class benefits directly from the money it raises. ALL MONEY MUST BE TURNED IN BY Thursday, October 10th, 2019 to their classroom teacher in order to be recognized as the top earner.
Students should:
Be dressed appropriately to walk/run for one hour,
Be dressed appropriately for the weather,
Bring a full water bottle,
Bring any necessary sunscreen. (The school cannot provide this due to allergies).
Schedule:
K-2: 8:30-9:30 AM
3-5: 10:00-11:00 AM
Volunteers Requested!
We will need volunteers to help track students’ laps and to motivate the students by running/walking laps with them. If you are available and interested in helping you will need to complete volunteer background check forms at least two weeks prior to the Jog-A-Thon. We appreciate your help! If you have any questions please contact the River Mill Elementary office or email Robert Franks at franksr@estacada.k12.or.us. Thank you in advance. We are looking forward to a fun morning of fundraising!
Trae cualquier protector solar necesario.
Programar:

3-5: 10: 00-11: 00 a.m.
¡Voluntarios solicitados!

Si tiene alguna pregunta, comuníquese con la oficina de River Mill Elementary o envíe un correo electrónico a Robert Franks a franksr@estacada.k12.or.us. Every Day Matters!
Students with regular school attendance are more likely to succeed. Every day matters for every child. Everyone can help make this happen – schools, families and community members.
Attendance matters for students at all grade levels. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read at grade level, and to build a strong foundation as they move from preschool and kindergarten to high school.
On the other hand, students who are chronically absent are at risk of falling behind. “Chronically absent” means a student is missing 10% of the school year. It doesn’t matter whether the absences are excused or unexcused. Each day represents lost time.
What does 10% look like? If your school district uses a five-day week, 18 days is considered chronically absent. If your district uses a four-day week, 14 days is considered chronically absent.
School districts are now tracking absences more closely. This is not to increase disciplinary actions – it is to identify students who may need increased support getting to school. Every day matters for every child.
