2025-2026 Academic Calendar – 4-day School Week
San Marcos CISD Families,
Following our most recent academic calendar survey, the topic of a 4-day school week was a common theme. Please review the following information and take a one-minute survey to provide your input on a 4-day school week.
Preliminary Information:
- According to research, districts that have adopted a 4-day school week have seen an increase in staff retention.
- SMCISD would look into providing childcare to families in need, if a 4-day school week is adopted
- SMCISD would need to extend the campus school day by approximately 30-45 minutes to maintain an August-May academic calendar & to ensure the district is meeting the mandatory 75,600 instructional minutes set by TEA.
