National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification
Schaumburg High School teacher Rachel Lakin, an English Learner educator, has earned national certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. This is the highest professional credential in the field of teaching and is a symbol of teaching excellence.
This is a voluntary process achieved through a rigorous performance-based assessment that takes nearly a year to complete. It demonstrates exemplary dedication and commitment.
Approval of Minutes
The Board approved the minutes from its Regular Meeting of March 20, 2025.
April 1, 2025 Official School Board Election Results
In accordance with the Election Code (10 ILCS 5/22-17), the Board of Education accepted the official canvass results of the Cook County Clerk’s Office for the April 1, 2025 School Board election. The Board officially declared Anne Lopez, Jane A. Russell and Kenneth R. Van Dyke duly elected members of the Board of Education for Township HIgh School District 211.

Adjournment Sine Die
The Board adjourned temporarily to seat new Board of Education members, with departing members Curtis Bradley, Timothy Mc Gowan and Anna Klimkowicz leaving the table.
Organizational Meeting
Oath of Office
All new Board members are required to take an oath of office as prescribed by the Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/10-16.5). North Cook Regional Superintendent of Schools Dr. April Jordan administered the oath of office to recently appointed Board members.

Establishment of Board Officers
In accordance with the Illinois School Code, the Board selected Board officers for two-year terms. Steven Rosenblum was elected President; Kimberly Cavill was elected Vice President; and Michelle Barron was elected Secretary.

A Board of Education meeting schedule for fiscal year 2026 was previously approved at the December 12, 2024 meeting. The established meeting dates for July 2025 to June 2026 are:

Regular meetings are held in the G.A. McElroy Administration Center, 1750 South Roselle Road, Palatine, beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of entering closed session with the public portion of the Board meetings beginning at 7:30 p.m. Any changes will be announced.
Board of Education Protocols
The Board operates as a single entity responsible for its governance and processes. In May 2016, the Board, in conjunction with the Superintendent and a representative from the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), compiled a list of agreements and expectations by which to work together in order to conduct the work of the Township High School District 211 community. The Board continues to review the agreements in conjunction with the Superintendent and an IASB representative. The newly formed Board received the protocols for review and consideration prior to their adoption at a future meeting.

Bids for Consideration
Acceptance of Donations
The Board accepted the donations of $1,500 and $3,642 from the Marcello Family to support boys wrestling at Fremd High School, and lumber valued in excess of $1,000 from Robert and Vanessa Schaffer for the applied technology department at Hoffman Estates High School.
Resolution: Employment of Summer School Faculty
We are proud to boast quality programs, exceptional staff, and enriching opportunities for students. This year, we expect to employ approximately 200 academic summer school teachers. Summer school will run from June 2 to June 24 (First Semester) and June 25 to July 17 (Second Semester). The Board adopted the resolution to employ teachers as presented.

Next Board Meeting
The next scheduled regular Board of Education meeting will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025, with closed session beginning at 6:30 p.m. and recognitions beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Anne Koller Board Meeting Room at the G.A. McElroy Administration Center.
