WestWood/ SAGE Family Newsletter
April
Thank you to all the families for their support for WestWood Elementary School with the read a thon. The students had a fun month of activities and are looking forward to the new specialist items coming.
We are looking forward to our April All School Meeting where we will get to hear from our 1st and 2nd grade students with their favorite selections from their concerts. These all school meetings are a great way for students to connect with their buddies and celebrate all of the collective work each month. We also include a time for students to connect with their buddies for the meeting and an activity related to our monthly theme.
We also want to support our 3-5th graders as they show all of their grade level learning on the MCA tests. Thank you for your help to support your students during this testing. The best strategies to prepare would be to help your students get a good night of sleep and have a healthy breakfast.
Please take a look at the resources and updates included in this newsletter to stay connected with what is happening at WestWood Elementary and SAGE Academy.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful spring break!

Early Release and No School Days:
There is no school on April 1-April 5. Early release day will be on April 10th. Students will be released at 1:50pm.
Mobile Food Shelf:
CAP Agency (Community Action Partnership) is introducing a new service! Starting in February there will be a mobile food shelf delivery made to Edgewood & WestWood Schools. Each month there is a shopping list that needs to be completed with your family needs. Look for flyers that will come home monthly regarding the due date for shopping orders and the delivery date. Reach out to Dallas Giles, School Social Worker, with any questions at dgiles@plsas.org or 952-226-0602.
Legacy Books:
In the past WestWood has offered an option for families to purchase birthday books in honor of students. Anyone who would like to donate a book on behalf of a student can choose a book from the list at WestWood Legacy Books
This is a positive way for your child to give a unique gift to all students at WestWood. If your family chooses to purchase a book to donate to the WestWood Media Center, we will place a bookplate in the book with your child's name, and he or she will be the first student to check out the new book.
Bike Safety Rodeo
Join the Prior Lake Police Department, Fire Department and Allina Health organization to participate in a family friend Bike Safety Rodeo on Saturday, May 4! This event will allow children ages 3-12 to show off their bike safety skills, have their helmet fitted and enjoy a bike obstacle course. As an added bonus, they will also get an up close and personal view of different first responder vehicles.
Register for a time slot on the City of Prior Lake's website here: https://plrec.recdesk.com/Community/Program
