The Grizzly News
Maple Grove Elementary School Newsletter August 2024
Welcome Back Grizzlies!
Welcome Back! We are so excited to have everyone back for a new school year!
Please note that our school hours are Monday-Friday 8:40-3:15. Please have your students to school on time and ready to learn. The playground and breakfast option open at 8:15 every morning. Please do not drop your child off earlier than 8:15 as there is no playground supervision until then.
Attendance Reminder for the year:
If your child will be absent, please call the office at 208-854-5540 or email jodi.imel@boiseschools.org. If you email the teacher, please include me as sometimes teacher emails don't get passed on. Thank you!
The Boise School District does not excuse tardies unless a doctor's note is provided. A note can be put in as a reason but the tardy will not be excused. The Principal or designee may excuse tardies because of inclement weather or extenuating circumstances. It is very important that students arrive at school on time each day. If your child arrives at school after 8:45, they need to enter through the front door and check in with the office before going to their classroom.
Student Drop Off & Pick Up:
Please refer to the map below and use only the front and side lots that are YELLOW to drop off & pick up your students. The front & sides with BLUE are for Staff, Buses & Daycare Vans only. The park across the street is another option for a meeting spot for your students.
Students that ride bikes or scooters:
Please remind your students that once they reach the school property (by the flagpole and crosswalk), they need to get off their bikes and scooters and walk them the rest of the way to the bike rack. After school, they also need to walk their bikes and scooters until they reach the flagpole/crosswalk area. We appreciate you helping us keep everyone safe.

Lunch Information
Lunch is available at all schools. The cost depends on your child's qualification for free or reduced lunch as defined by the US Department of Agriculture.
For more details on meal prices, menus, and meal applications, visit Food & Nutrition Services at Boiseschools.org.
Cell Phone Policy
Students with cell phones must keep them on silent and stored inside backpacks during the school day.
Cell phones and smart watches may only be accessed before and after school or if a teacher/staff allows a student to use them.
If your student has a medical or personal reason they want to call home, they need to check in with the nurse, their teacher, or the office first. Cell phone use will be allowed for certain health or emergency situations with staff permission.
Join the PTO
It’s time to join PTO again this year. It’s only $5 for an individual or family membership. We have lots of fun things planned for this year - Farmstead, Trunk or Treat, STEM Night, dine around, and so much more. We cannot provide all these great events without your help. Also, if you sign up before September 16th, you’ll be entered to win a family fun basket.

Library Information
Things will be a little different in the Library this year. There will be three days (Mon, Tues & Wed) that students will get to check books out, have library lessons and activities. These are considered Book Days. Thursday and Friday will be dedicated to Skill Struck and computer science. Students will not be checking books out on those days. Please help remind your students that they will need to bring their library books to school M, T & W each week.
