From the principal's desk...
It's almost spring break and time for a recharge. Daylight savings time has done it's thing, kids have recovered and now it is time to rest and recharge for the final three months of the year. March is the beginning of the planning season for schools. Our grade 6's are getting excited for junior high. Schools are coming to meet them and soon they will be signing up for options and attending some open houses. An exciting time for sure.
At this time we also look forward to the last three months to make sure we end the year with a bang. When we return from spring break there will be lots of curriculum to cover and lots of events to keep students engaged. Most of our awesome clubs will adjourn so the kids can enjoy some much needed outside time and we have a few events planned to bring the school community together. First up is our Family Dance. The Dance will take place in April and we hope that all our families can join us. More detailed information can be found in this newsletter.
Finally, a huge thank you to all of our families who participated in round 2 of the parent teacher interviews. Taking time out of your busy schedule to celebrate your childs successes means a lot to our teachers and your kids. I hope that everyone has a restful break and we will see everyone on March 31 when we return from spring break.

Math-a-Thon
MHV have Raised over $8000 so far!
Help the students of Mills Haven Elementary have some fun and earn prizes with our annual MATH-A-THON. A fundraiser that transforms math practice into fun games where students secure pledges for solving math problems, showing off their math skills and raising funds for the school all at the same time. Students will record their math minutes, and on PI Day, math will be incorporated into all education subjects for a unique and exciting experience.
The funds raised will be disbursed for commitments made by your School Council to enhance the experience for all of Mills Haven Elementary.
Kindergarten Registration Still Open
Is your child turning five on or before Dec. 31, 2025? If so, it’s time to register for kindergarten.
Kindergarten registration opens for the 2025-26 school year on Feb. 1, 2025. To help families prepare, Elk Island Public Schools has put together an online EIPS Kindergarten Tool kit to make the transition as smooth as possible. The kit includes information on registration, important dates, programming options, what to expect, eligibility, how to find your designated school, transportation and more.
Additional information regarding kindergarten at Mills Haven is available here.
