Greetings Central Heights Students and Families,
Monday, October 28th is a B-day. Please remind your student to bring their chromebook home each night after school AND charge it. Students are struggling to keep their chromebooks charged, which creates a lot of distractions in learning. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) offers students a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and reduced fat milk with every school lunch. Est. 1946.

Why Healthy School Lunches Matter
School lunch is critical for student health and well-being. Healthy lunches are key to fueling young minds and bodies. Balanced meals help students stay focused, energized, and ready to learn. Here are some pictures from our fun week! Our amazing CHMS lunch team is in the middle picture below:

Central Heights Enrichment Opportunities
Students can join the Central Heights Enrichment Opportunities Google Classroom by using the code 3cjl6b7. This Google Classroom contains information about weekly challenge problems, math meets, Math 24, online math challenges, NaNoWriMo (students writing their own novel), Greater Dane Anthology writing and art competition, and more! Our PBIS and Student Council are seeking donations to help create team-building activities for students to engage in during SP30. Would you be able to donate masking tape, cups, cards, or puzzles? Check out the sign up genius to sign up and see the full list of items needed.
Sunshine Place Updates:
Thanksgiving Baskets
Thanksgiving Baskets will be distributed during regular pantry hours starting Wednesday, November 8 through Wednesday, November 22nd at Sun Prairie Emergency Food Pantry.
Families can pick up their Thanksgiving Basket during their normal pantry visit. A pantry visit is not required to pick up a Thanksgiving Basket. No sign up is required for Thanksgiving Baskets this year! This year, Baskets will be choice-based and with more options.
Spirit of Giving
The Spirit of Giving program matches families in need of gifts for their children during the December holiday season with community members who want to help. The program is available to families in Sun Prairie with children ages birth to 18. A link to sign up for Spirit of Giving will be sent out to all families enrolled in free and reduced lunch ON November 1st. Sign up will not be available until November 1st.

8th grade families - your student will have a field trip on 11/20 for Future Quest! This is a high energy day where your student can explore various career pathways.
Each week, we update our announcements with student club information (dates/times/room numbers). In order to join a club, students just need to attend it. If they enjoy their time in the club the first night, we’ll get them ‘rostered’ to the club and it will show up on their schedule for after school activities (similar to how sports do). Here’s the latest information about our Central Heights clubs:

In order to call your student out absent/excuse them from school, please call our attendance line: 608-318-8020.
Please keep your child home if they have symptoms of respiratory or gastrointestinal infections, such as cough, fever, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea. Let us know (by calling: 318-8020) if they test positive for any communicable disease, such as COVID, influenza, strep, or pertussis. Your school's health assistant can provide guidance on when your child can return to school after testing positive.
Free and Reduced Meals and Fee Waiver Information
If you would like to apply for Free or Reduced status, please fill out the application for free or reduced price school meals. Please see the links below for directions, the application, and frequently asked questions document. You only need to submit one application per household, even if your children attend more than one school in Sun Prairie. The application must be filled out completely to certify your children for free or reduced price school meals. Be sure to list each of your children on the application form. If at any time you are not sure what to do next, please contact the Sun Prairie School District, Nutrition Department, 501 S. Bird St., Sun Prairie WI 53590 or email nutritiondepartment@sunprairieschools.org or call (608) 834-6544.
If you want to share your Free and Reduced status with Central Heights in order to request fee waivers for things like athletic fees, activity and club fees, course fees, and or summer school fees, please contact our school social worker, Matt Jahnke at (608) 318-8009 or mtjahnk@sunprairieschools.org

Are you eligible for Free and Reduced lunches? If you share your eligibility for Free and reduced lunches with your student’s building administration, you can request fee waivers for sports and other school activities. Please complete this form if you want to request fee waivers.
