UPDATE! November Nice! Food Drive!
Hello Amazing Rams,
This is Kendall and Evelyn and we are members of the Community Service Cabinet. Speaking for the whole committee, we want to thank you - teachers, students and families - for your donations for our Food Drive!
We thought we would be much lower in our collection. We were surprised by how many items we raised and we were also surprised about the size of the items. For example, some people brought pasta mixes that would feed an entire family. Some people brought large sizes of cereal that could feed a family of four for a week. There were even items that were sensitive to food allergies and gluten free.
Whether you brought one can, a Kool-aid mix or many larger items, all were important. We were able to deliver 752 pounds (1,528 items) of food to Caring Hands! 5th grade was the grade level that brought the most items and Mrs. Bruner's 2nd grade class made and met the most goals. Those classes will win a popcorn party!
Thanks again for raising so many food items to support Caring Hands. Caring Hands is a local food pantry that supports our SEP families and is always taking donations. We look forward to our next Community Service project knowing we have your support!

The Iowa School Performance Profiles is an online tool showing how public schools performed on required measures. The website was developed to meet both federal and state requirements for publishing online school report cards: The federal Every Student Succeeds Act and House File 215 (ESSA), adopted by Iowa lawmakers in 2013.
The website includes:
- Scores on school accountability measures required under ESSA
- Ratings based on those scores: Exceptional, High Performing, Commendable, Acceptable, Needs Improvement, and Priority
- Identification of schools for support and improvement based on accountability scores (Comprehensive and Targeted schools)
- Additional education data that must be reported by law but do not figure into school accountability scores
Here is how Altoona Elementary scored. We are proud of our efforts all around... our students, our staff, and our supportive families. By continuing to partner, we will continue to do great things for our students.
